Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions Term 1

Entering Madam Malkins, Peter was already wondering if the Wizarding World was a matriarchal society. The reason the boy thought this was first; the head of the school though not a woman, had four Heads of House that were. Since coming through the barrier most shops were named after women. If someone could read his thoughts they would probably assume that he had a problem with this, but he didn’t. Peter was just observing what he saw as fact. It was either that or the Head Master had a harem going.

Blue eyes wandered around the shop before the boy followed suit and began to look at the Hogwarts Uniforms. Ralph, who had been curled up in the breast pocket of his t-shirt, decided he wanted to participate. The little albino mouse popped his head out of the convenient napping place that was Peter’s pocket. After twitching his nose he pulled himself out of the pocket and flipped nearly falling but his claws caught in the boy’s shirt.

Peter reached up and plucked the mouse from his shirt. Holding the mouse with one hand, Peter petted the soft furry head while scolding the rodent. “You have to be more careful, Ralph. If I wasn’t paying attention you could have fallen and gotten stepped on!”

Setting the mouse on his shoulder, the eleven year old reached out picking up a pair of trousers. Holding them against his waist his brow furrowed as he bent a little. “These are too long.”

Folding the pants back up, he set them down and Ralph took that opportunity to scurry from his perch on Peter’s shoulder, down his arm. Peter tried to grab the white mouse but Ralph was too quick. The curious mouse was now in the clothing shelf and expertly avoiding his owner’s hands.

Slightly worried, Peter looked up, glad that the tailor was busy with someone else. That was a curse as well as a blessing however. With the store full it would keep the sales people occupied long enough for him to recapture Ralph. With the store being so full it would also be more likely for his poor mouse to be lost and or stepped on or hurt.

“Ralph!” He whispered hoarsely getting a little irritated. “Get back here!”

Peter had to resort to getting on his hands and knees and scrabbling after his mouse. That proved rather awkward and the poor boy had to explain to a woman that he was definitely not a pervert or wanting to look up her skirt. The very idea made him shudder in revulsion. He was also a bit incensed that she would think of something like that automatically.

With the albino mouse in hand, he made sure to keep a loose but confining hold on Ralph. Grabbing a uniform with one hand he went to the count and with a surly, “Here,” he half tossed the clothes at the poor clueless cashier. “One set of black robes and two uniforms please.”

James found himself at the robe store next. He didn't particularly like the idea of wearing robes, as they seemed to look a lot like a dress, but he didn't want to be the only one at Hogwarts not wearing them.

He walked up the the shopkeeper and placed his order, handing over the sizes that he needed on a piece of paper his mother gave him to save time on measuring.

The shopkeeper looked at the note, but decided to measure James for the robes anyway, just making sure of the measurements. James waited patiently, but was eager to leave the stuffy store. Once the measuring was done, James placed his order.

"Could I please order one set of black robes, and 1 set of Hogwarts uniform robes please."

If that wasn't enough, he could always use Flash to send a message to his mother to send him another set of robes.

Handing over the 25 Galleons, James left the shop, his arms full with all his packages. He wondered about trying to find his parents so that he could give them all his parcels and continue his shopping. It was a promising idea.

Gwen stepped into the shop and was promptly attacked by a tape measure.
"Whoa!" She said fighting it off. "I know my size already thank you!" She said holding the tape measure back and telling it her size. It stopped immedietly and waited. "One set of Hogwarts Robes Gryffindor please." She said and was promptly serviced. She gave it the money and nodded. "Thank you."

She left shaking her head.
That tape measure was nuts.

Measurements weren't necessary for Alli. She was in there enough with her mother that taking them again would have been redundant. "Let's just get this over with," she said to the shopkeeper while her mother perused the latest fashions on the other side of the shop. She was soon ready to leave with a set of plain black robes and a new Hogwarts uniform. "Thanks," she said, paying for the clothing then dragging her mother from the shop so they could go home and drop off all the unnecessary crap that she didn't feel like carrying around for the rest of the day.

Normally Brianna hated clothes shopping, but today was different. She would be buying her very first set of wizarding clothes and that was special.

"Hogwarts dearie?" a plump witch with rosy cheeks asked her as she entered the shop. Bri nodded. "Right, just a minute dear. Just hold your arms out and stand still and we'll get you measured while I finish up with this one here."

Much to Brianna's surprise, a tape measure flew towards her and started taking her measurements, although it didn't stop when the normal ones were done. It continued, taking the distance from fingertips to elbow, elbow to shoulder, armpit to belly button, even between her nostrils.

The witch came over and snatched it out of thin air. "Now you're just being silly," she scolded it.

She finished getting Brianna set up with a set of plain black work robes and a uniform without the magical tape measure, much to Brianna's belief. She paid the woman and bid her a good day before grabbing Dexter's cage and her new clothing wrapped in a neat parcel and exiting the shop.

Buying robes was an unfortunate requirement of Jude's trip to Diagon Alley. He got quite enough of this with his mother usually. Still, Hogwarts clothes. The last time he'd have to do this for at least another year, hopefully.

He got measured and fitted as quickly as he could and then paid the witch working there, then left with 2 uniforms and some plain black work robes.

After purchasing her books, Elise had gotten lost trying to find the clothes store. Luckily a few people were nice enough to point her in the right direction. She entered the shop and stood awkwardly by the door. A plump witch, the manager (it said so on her badge), walked over to her with a gentle smile.

"First year to Hogwarts, Sweetie?" The shopkeeper asked.

Elise barely finished nodding when she was ushered onto a stool and measuring tape, similar to the ones in Olivander's, appeared out of no where and began to wrap around her waist and what not.

The witch nodded and wrote down her measurements on a piece of parchment before helping Elise down from the stool.

"Alright dear. Now that we've got your measurements, what do you want to buy? We have plain black robes, the Hogwarts uniform, and dress robes."

Elise was saw a couple black robes on the left-hand side of the store, Hogwarts uniforms dominating the middle section, and then a huge selection of dress robes to the right.

"Er... Can I have two sets of black robes, and two sets of the Hogwarts uniform?"

The shopkeeper nodded and summoned the clothes before wrapping them up. Elise paid the woman and left the store.

She walked into Madam Malkins and frowned slightly. She didn't want to be touched, and if this fitting entailed being touched, she would not allow it. She voiced her concern to the owner, and the lady smiled. December found a tape measure magically measuring her, and she sighed as she thought it was better than nothing.

"I'd like one set of black black robes and two sets of the Hogwarts Uniform, Ravenclaw." She said. After she received her purchases and paid for them, she left the store.

Soon after getting her wand, Asher found herself walking with her mother to Madam Malkins for her school uniform.

"Hello there," greeted Madam Malkins. "I assume Hogwarts, am I right?"

"Yes," Elizabeth beamed.

"Alright, stand up straight so I take your measurements," the lady ordered. "How many sets?"

"I'd like one black set and a set of Gryffindor robes," answered Asher.

Makayla looked at her list again, and noticed that she only needed to get her robes and her wand and she would be done her school shopping and could really explore Diagon Alley.

She walked into the Robe store, still thinking it odd that Wizards went around in robes. She couldn't believe that she hadn't notice any of them before she knew she was a Witch.

Standing still, Makayla let the witch take her measurements and then she order the robes that she would be needing for Hogwarts.

"Could I please order 2 sets of Hogwarts Uniform robes, and 2 sets of Plain Black Robes please?'

Madam Malkins: Essi's second favourite shop. She just adored shopping for clothes. She browsed the racks for a few moments, simply taking in the atmosphere around her. However, she was only here to buy school uniform. It was a shame, but it couldn't be helped.

She was attacked by a rather vicious tape measure, but she didn't mind. It happened every time she bought new clothes, which was a lot. When she found out her sizes, however, she did mind. She had put on an extra pound or so around the waist.

"One plain black set and one Ravenclaw set of robes, please," she said, trying to keep the disappointment out of her voice. Her mother would have her on a diet again soon.

Jenn walked in accompanied by her mother. There was someone already with the shopkeeper, Madam Maklin. They waited for a few minutes, and they people walked out if the store. "Hogwarts, too, dearie?" Jenn nodded and the woman motioned her to the back to take what seemed like a million measurements. "Now, what is it that you would like dear?"

Jenn smiled with a proud face and spoke, "Two sets of Gryffindor robes, please." the woman motioned, one minute, and walked away and came back a minute later with her two sets of Gryffindor robes. "Thank you very much, Madam." Her mother handed the shopkeeper thirty galleons and the two walked out of the store to finish the shopping.

Zara literally had know idea what she was doing, arriving in england from italy only that morning, it was all abit over whelming. And it didnt help that she wasnt yet fluent in english, using her italian-english phrase book as something to lean on when having conversations. She had only talked to what the muggles called "a taxi driver" which was just an english word clearly, for an un-hygienic, salacious and an awful driver. She had never been thrown about so much in all her life! Then she got to her destination and he had the cheek THE CHEEK to ask for money! Muggle money, which she didnt have. Its a good job another wizard passed by, she heard the "imperio" that he whispered, but the taxi driver just thanked her and drove off. She turned around to yell at him for using an unforgivable, or perhaps just to thank him, but he was gone.

Oh and don't even get her started on the leaky cauldron! A simple few taps on the brick her ministry sent travel helper said, easy to learn and simple to do! he said, what a load of... well, she didnt know the english word for THAT was, but its a bad one, so she will just say poo. it was a load of poo. She had to ask Tom the bar man to help her, "just this once" he said, yes of course, because next time she would be flooing straight in to the alley.

She had a list of what she needed, freshly sent from hogwarts in the letter, then written down in her mother hand writing, she smiled at the flamboyant curles in the joined up words, her heart swelling, how she would miss her mother and her excentric ways. She would miss all of italy really, the food, her family, the beach just down the path, the climate. Oh yes, the sun that shone most days, and just a light drizzle. The mish mash of drizzle and cold sunshine was already giving her SAD, well not quite, but she was sad.

She couldn't wait to get to hogwarts, the friendly, homely, warm atmosphere practically radiated from the leaflet she got, she was craving it already, she had since she was 6, and her older sister got her letter. She had been so jealous, she cried for a week! threatening to run away, even writing a letter to dumbledore, who courteously wrote back. She read that letter over and over again, it was basically a promise. A promise that on her 11th birthday, she would recieve her letter, that granted her access to the most beautiful building she had ever seen. Hogwarts.

But anyway... Madam Malkins. The shop she was drawn to first. Well, it was a clothes shop, and they draw her like a magnet.

So after walking in she pretty much wanted the whole shop, beautiful dresses were in display cabinets, in pictures on the walls moving and twirling, she was considering emptying her complete gringotts account to purchase the shop when a lovely plump looking woman came up to her, asking what she could help her with, after being fitted in and ordering her slytherin robes, she felt a weight lift off her shoulders, even if she didnt have any books to take to her lessons, at least she wouldnt go to them nude!

Emily entred the shop she didn't want to take too long shopping, she really couldn't be bothered. "hello" she said to the witch. "can i have two sets of hogwarts uniform's, gryffindor please" she said.

"yes of course dear we'll just get you measuered" she smiled at her as she got a measuring tape.

"t's alright I know my size" Emily said to her. The witch nodded and got her what she'd asked for. Emily payed and thanked her before leaving the shop.

Isabel found herself being led into the robe shop by her mother. It was a big place, smelling of clean fabric and potpourri. Isabel was curious to find that the store did not contain racks upon racks of clothing, like normal clothing stores. Instead, there were a few mannequins here and there, obviously meant to display popular designs, and many podiums in front of mirrors. There were two people in there already; one was a witch around her mother’s age being fitted for a dark green formal robe, and the other was another student, though several years above Isabel, it would appear. Both were being attended to by what seemed to be animated tape measures.

“Hello?” Isabel’s mother called into the store, while Isabel tried her hardest to hide her face in her mother’s skirts. Her mother sighed, “Oh, honestly Isabel, you’re not five…” and pushed her in front of her again.

A middle-aged witch appeared in front of them. She smiled and greeted, “Hello, dears. I’m Madam Malkin. How can I help you today?”

“My daughter,” Isabel’s mother said, digging her fingers into Isabel’s shoulders to keep her from moving anywhere. “Needs to be fitted for robes. She’s going into her first year at Hogwarts, and she doesn’t have any yet. She’s a size twelve in juniors, or a small.”

Madam Malkin stared at her as if she was speaking a foreign language. She then smiled and chuckled, “Oh, Muggle-born, hmm? Well, come right over here, dear. We’ll take your measurements and see what you need.” She walked over to an unoccupied podium and removed a tape measure from a sewing basket sitting on it. With a wave of her wand, the tape measure was moving of its own volition and floated its way over to Isabel, flapping as though beckoning her.

Isabel followed it, albeit hesitantly, and stepped onto the podium. The tape measure went to work, giving her directions through nudging and tugging on whatever body part it wanted her to hold out. It took a few minutes, but eventually Isabel got into the swing of things and started to understand the tape measure’s nonverbal cues.

An hour later, Isabel had been fitted for both black robes and Hogwarts robes, and walked out with two pairs of each. Isabel was impressed that they had been made so quickly, but there had been magic involved, so she shouldn’t have been too terribly surprised.

She and her mother walked out, with Madam Malkin chirping, “Goodbye dear, and good luck at Hogwarts!” and the charmed tape measure flapping frantically in goodbye.

Anne walked into Madame Malkins and paused for a moment as the tape measure took down all her measurements. Madame Malkin walked right over and asked her what she wanted.

"I would like one set plain black robes, two sets of slytherin robes." Anne asked potitely, and waited while Madame Malkin got her size from the measuring tapes. Anne realized she would probably need to have more than one set of balck robes, especially if that was conisdered daywear at hogwars, but she had a lot of books to buy, and there was still enough time before school started to buy more if she had any money left over...or talked her mother into giving her more.

She paid for her robes, and left the store eagerly. Now onto book buying, what she had been waiting for all day.

Adreis hated shopping for clothing. She wasn't a girl who could spend hours shopping for clothes. Books were another story, but clothing? no way.

"Sam!" She complained as her brother quiet literally dragged her into the store "Let me go!" she yanked her arm away from her brother who gave her a 'run and you're dead' look. "I won't run" she promised.

The pair walked up to the front desk where a nicely dressed witch was standing. "I need my Hogwarts robes and uniform" Dree informed the woman glumly.

The witch smiled slightly and snapped her fingers. a measuring tape flew out of a drawer in her desk and started taking the necessary measurements. after it was done, the woman told Dree her size

"Two black robes and two Hogwarts uniforms please" she asked as Sam oulled out the money to pay.


SHe collected the parcel and left the shop promptly.

Silver's last stop of the day was to buy robes. After this she had to go back to the orphanage with all the other kids.

"Excuse me, ma'am, could I get two sets of Hogwarts robes? Gryffindor please."

"Certainly. Do you need to be measured?"

Silver laughed, "Yes, please."

"Then step right up here."

The nice woman helped Silvana get her robes and then the young girl was off.

Sami sighed as she entered the shop. She wasn't really looking forward to getting fitted, especially after her dad had warned her of the magic measuring tape that Madam Malkins used. But she assumed that it had probably gone by now, after all, spells like that never lasted to long. Well, as far as she knew (which was a lot.)

This would be her first stop in Diagon Alley, besides the Leaky Cauldron. Then right after this she had decided to go to Flourish and Botts. Might as well get the hardest bit done first.

The witch examined the shop thoroughly, checking for harrasing measuring tapes and saleswomen. None, as far as she could tell.

Sami began to get impatient, tapping her foot lightly on the ground. At this rate, the Chinese new year would've passed by the time anyone showed up. But just as she though that, a small, chubby witch came rushing in from the back.

"I'm so sorry for the wait," Madam Malkins apologized profusely. The girl smiled, she didn't seem like a rampant measuring tape. "You're getting fitted for Hogwarts yes? Than I suppose you'll also need a set of plain robes." Sami nodded, looking down at her school list.

"Here. Let me take your measurements." The woman went to grab a measuring tape, but Sami interrupted.

"Actually, madam. I have my measurements right here." The witch gave Sami a look, before grabbing the Post-I note. She quickly scanned through it then looked up and smiled.

Madam Malkin lead the young witch towards the Hogwarts uniforms of which she bought one, it was really all she needed. Sami grabbed a couple of plain black robes, before putting them with the rest of her stuff. She gazed longingly at the dress robes and reluctantly headed over to the counter to ring them all up.

After getting them all sorted out, the adolescent scurried out of the shop. She sighed. Time to head over to Flourish and Botts.

Charlotte noticed people walking to and from different shops, most in a hurry. So when they finally got to get her robes, she was glad it was the last major thing on her list before potion supplies. When she got inside the shop, she saw a woman behind a counter, waiting for the next customer.
"May I help you?" she asked Charlotte's aunt.
Marrissa Walker nodded. "She's going to Hogwarts." She smiled at that last line. She seemed to be proud that the niece that she had to raise had finally found her calling. "She'll need two sets of black robes and two sets of Hogwarts?"
The woman set to the work of measuring. Charlotte walked out with her robes and hugged her aunt.

Jasmine desperately needed some robes for Hogwarts and now seemed like the time to go and order a couple of pairs. She really wished her mother would have done the ordering for her, but alas, here Jasmine was, ordering her own robes.

She walked up to the shop assistant.

"I'll be needing some robes for Hogwarts. Better make it two uniform and two pairs of plain black robes." she said, getting more and more bored by the minute. She rolled her eyes as the measuring took an age, and was more than happy to get herself out of that stuffy shop.

Anthony walked into Madam Malkin's Robe store to get himself some robes for the upcoming year at Hogwarts. He looked around at some of the other students in there and wondered if some of them were first years as well.

He placed his order with the Madam (2 Hogwarts uniform robes and 2 sets of plain black robes) and stood still as she took his measurements, looking down at the measuring tape that seemed to be acting of it's own accord. He smiled.

Giving the money to the woman, Andy left the store with his brand new robes and an excitement for the term to start.

Terry was with her father now, her mother retiring to their inn for the day. They entered the clothing store, Terry watching the multiple English children curiously.
"Hop up here, that's a good girl. What robes do you need?" the woman asked.
"2 Hogwarts uniform robes and 2 sets of plain black robes," Terry's father instructed bossily. Terry smiled; her father couldn't shed his pure blood superiority for one day.
She craned her head to watch the tapes measure her.
She exited the store soon, even more tired than she was before.

Leighton walked into Madam Malkins, Alyxander pulling her along. Leigh was tired and overwhelmed by how quick everything was happening. She grew up in America and all these accents were confusing her.
Suddenly, a tape measurer wrapped itself around her waist. "Woah, alright, that's fine." she murmured sarcastically.
Alyx was next to her looking skeptically at the tape measurer. "England is weird," he stated. Leigh could see his attention divert from her and saw him looking longingly at a pretty blonde girl with bright blue eyes.
Leigh snapped her fingers. Alyx shook his head and looked at her with green eyes very familiar to her own. "Sorry! Fifteen year old guys and pretty girls mix well with one another." he said, his lips twisted up into a smirk.
The tape measurer flew off her body and Leigh was left standing there not knowing what to do next. Luckily, a witch dressed in a gaudy hot pink robe. The witch held out a stack of robes. "One Hogwarts uniform and two plain black robes! " the witch sang.
Leigh raised an eyebrow at her. "Thank you." Leigh stated even though it sounded more like a question. Alyx handed the witch 35 galleons before pulling Leigh out of the store.
"Now," he said while running a hand through his dark brown hair, "its time to by a wand."

Alyssa stepped into the shop, by this point pestered with her sister. After finding a witch in pink robes, Alyssa was measured.

"I'll have a set of Slytherin robes, and two sets of black ones please." Alyssa asked politely. You had to give these people credit. Think about how many kids they see a day! After the witch returned, Alyssa walked out of the shop, not even bothering to look for her sister before heading onto the next.
