‘Flourish and Blotts’ Peter though curiously. That was like flourishing their book knowledge and blots were something you dabbed away. That was rather clever and inevitable that people with those surnames would go into the book business.

Using the odd hanging signs to direct himself, Peter was able to find the book he needed for his four classes. Adding parchment and quills to his purchases, he paused lingering over the types of ink. He was rather partial to buying a color changing one. It would be interesting and entertaining to say the least. Picking up one of those he also grabbed a container of dark blue ink. With everything in hand he gratefully placed his heavy books on the counter.

It was rather lucky he had started shopping as early as he did. He hadn’t had many people to wait behind. When his turn came, Peter pointed to the highlighted books on his list.

“Astronomy, Defense, Divination, and History for Beginners. Parchment, Quills (x2), dark blue ink, and a color changing ink.”

Walking down Diagon Alley was always fascinating but now that he was given money and a freedom to shop from his parents, James was eager to fully explore every store.

Coming to the book store, James pushed the door open, hearing a chime. That would get annoying after a while, he thought but persevered through the door and into the stop.

Seeing books stacks higher than his head, (it hurt his neck to crane head up that far) and people everywhere, James made his way through the crowds to the Hogwarts textbook section. He quickly found the four textbooks that he needed for the year and then hurried over to where the inks and quills were stored. This would be fun.

He enjoyed watching the example quills move along parchment, showing the changing ink option, and the rainbow ink, but opted for something simple, in a few different colours of course.

Selecting a couple of colours, James went up the the counter, which was perfect timing, as the shopkeeper was free.

"Hello. Could I please place an order for:

Charms for Beginners
Defense for Beginners
Potions for Beginners
Transfiguration for Beginners

... and some dark green, black, silver and dark red ink, two quills, and some parchment, thanks."

Thankfully he was given a bag, so that he could carry all of his supplies, and left the shop, happy to continue to explore the Alley's shops.

Gwen flounced into the shop happily. She loved reading. "Umm....Beginners Charms, CoMC, Potions, Herbo and Figgie and HoM please." She smiled handing the counterperson her money. "And DADA"

Urgh, the bookshop, one of Alli's least favorite places. Sure it was filled with books, which she loved, but it was also filled with idiots thinking that one of those precious books would hold the key to taking away their stupidity. But they were wrong. Very, very wrong.

She collected the books she needed from the textbook section, prominantly displayed at the front of the store for the "back to school" shoppers, then went to the counter. She placed her supplies- the beginner's books for Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Muggle Studies, and Potions, parchment, a black quill, and some black ink- there, paid for them, and left. No point in wasting more time there than was necessary.

When she had exhausted the very little time that she had in the book shop, which was easily her favorite, Brianna replaced any book that she had moved and began to gather the books that she would be needing for school.

She had the shopkeeper ring her up for the beginner's books for Ancient Runes, Astronomy, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions, and Transfiguration, as well as some parchment, a blue quill, a black quill, and some black ink.

"Thank you," she said with a smile as she paid for her things and left, happy to be carrying all of these wonderful things out of the shop with her.

Instead of wandering around the shop like a fool, like most of Flourish and Blott's patrons seemed to be doing, Jude went straight to an employee. "I need the books for a first year taking Ancient Runes, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions, and Transfiguration," he instructed.

While he waited for the worker to return, he grabbed some parchment, a black quill, a green quill, black ink, and green ink, and put them on the counter. The employee returned and packed everything up for him. He paid, then left, deciding that taking all of this home would be a good idea, once he got his wand. Then he would be free to roam around as he pleased.

After buying her wand from the strange man, Elise made her way to the bookstore. She browsed the between the cases for a few minutes before beginning to collect the necessary textbooks. Once she was done, Elise made her way towards the front and placed the books on the counter.

"I'd to pay for these books." Elise turned the stack so that the salesman could see the names of the books: Ancient Runes for Beginners, Charms for Beginners, Defense for Beginners, & Divination for Beginners.

"I'd also like to buy some parchment and seven quills. As for ink, can I have silver, dark red, dark green, dark blue, light purple, and a black one please?"

Once everything was paid for and put in a bag, Elise exited the store and began to make her way to the clothing store. She still needed to buy her uniform.

December walked into the bookstore. Oh how could she believe all this. Shelves upon shelves of books to be read, but she couldn't dawdle. There was only so much time they would believe her to be gone on a little shopping trip at the orphanage. Then again, since when had she cared what they thought anyway?

She found all the materials she needed and made her way to the shopkeeper. "Right here I'd like to pay for Herbology for Beginners, Potions for Beginners, and Ancient Runes for Beginners. I'd also like some parchment, quills, and some... gold and silver ink.

She handed the money to the shopkeeper and strolled out with her purchases.

Makayla consulted her list and decided that she had better get her textbooks or else she'd look rather silly sitting there in class with no books or materials.

She walked into the store and perused the store excitedly. She had never seen so many different books, in so many different genres. She looked over a book that seemed to shift in colours, and then one that was so small that it would fit on her palm. She then went to look at the different Quills, loving the look of a Peacock Feather one, but knew it would be too flashy for Hogwarts. She grinned at the changing colour ink and wanted to buy some to use on homework and the like.

She sort of an assistance and placed her order for the upcoming year at Hogwarts.

"Could I please purchase a copy of Astronomy for Beginners, Care of Magical Creatures for Beginners, Divination for Beginners, Herbology for Beginners and History of Magic for Beginners. Could I also some colour changing ink, some black, pink, green and blue ink, some parchment, and two Quills.

"Care of Magical Creatures for Beginners, Defence for Beginners, Herbology for Beginners, Transfiguration for beginners, some dark purple ink and a quill, please," said Essi, gazing around at all of the wonderful books surrounding her. She loved books. She adored the feel of them, and the smell of them, and the crinkling sound as you turned the pages. Books were just wonderful.

She handed over her money and was about to leave the shop when a pile of books caught her eye. She had to avert her gaze, though. The prices were high and her mother had only given her a certain amount of money for supplies.

"I'll be back soon," she told the books lovingly as she left.

The book shop was disheveled and disorganized, just the way Natalie liked her shops. She ducked under low shelves and delicately sidestepped leaning towers over books to look at everything that the shop had to offer. Guided by the scent of a Shlamdorf, she was quickly able to find all the books that she would need for the classes she was taking.

Back at the counter, she unloaded her merchandise- blue ink, black ink, silver ink, parchment, 2 quills, and the books for a first year taking Astronomy, Care of Magical Creatures, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Divination, and Transfiguration. Handing the shopkeeper the money, she started to leave the shop. "Um, Miss, don't you want your things?"

Natalie turned around. "Yes, of course. How silly of me." She collected them, then continued on to her next stop.

Jenn was going to be a busy student, but she wanted to take so many subjects. She would love to take all the classes at Hogwarts, except she knew she wouldn't have the time. She grabbed the supplies she needed and quickly did the math in her head. She set down on the counter the following items: the beginning books for Ancient Runes, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Muggle Studies, Potions, and Transfiguration; black ink and a quill. She handed the galleons to the shopkeeper and took her things before she walked out the door, finally finished, she Wouk have to wait to het an owl or a cat until next year, but she was okay with that.

Hmm…books…, thought Isabel as she pushed open the door to Florish and Blott’s. The smell of leather-bound books, ink, and parchment assaulted her nose and she breathed in deeply. There was nothing quite like the smell of a bookstore, and it was quite quiet in here. She thought she would stay and read for a while.

First, though, she pulled her school list out of her pocket and went down the list of classes and required literature. Once she was sure she had the list memorized, she slid it back into her jeans pocket and began perusing the isles, selecting the nearest isle to her; one marked Potions and Magical Recipe Books.

An hour later, Isabel had gathered all of her books and glanced through them. She would have liked to stay for a while longer, but unfortunately her parents were expecting her to meet them in the park in an hour, and she had to get the rest of her school shopping done. She stepped up to the counter and pushed her big stack of books, almost too big for her small body, onto the counter. She smiled at the storekeeper, whom inquired, “Hogwarts?”

She nodded. “First year.”

He smiled, pushed his glasses up, and began scanning through them. “Hmm. Let’s see here, what do you have? Charms for Beginners, Defense Against the Dark Arts for Beginners, Potions for Beginners, and Transfiguration for Beginners.” As he read each one, he added the tab to the cash register. Then he looked back down at her and said, “Any ink or parchment? You’re going to need it. Quills, too.”

Isabel nodded after a moment and stared at the list of colors on the counter. “Hmm…uh…Two quills, black and light purple ink, and some parchment.”

The shopkeeper rung this up as well, wrapped it all up in a bag, and said, “Alright, young miss. That will be forty-seven galleons.”

After carefully shaking the correct amount of money out of her bag, Isabel deposited the galleons onto the counter and smiled slightly, taking her back. She murmured, “Thank you very much, sir.” And exited, the dinging of the bell following her out.

Adreis was in compeate awe when she entered the shop. She had never, in her life, seen so many books. and she loved it. Sam hurried her to the counter. "you can hang around here, but let's get your textbooks first" he told her when she complained.

She nodded and looked at her list of books. "Can I have the beginner books for Astronomy, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Defense, History, Potions, and Transfiguration oh and also some parchment, 2 quills, light teal, dark blue, and black ink please?" She put the money on the table and handed Same her books and supplies.

"I have to run some errends, do you want to stay here? Or come with me?" Her brother asked, taking ehr school books.

"Stay here!" she said, as if it were compleatly obvious.

"I thought you would. I'll be back in a bit" he responded and left the shop with her supplies in his arms.

Dree smiled and went off to explore the stacks.

Alyssa stepped into the bookshop, closely followed by her oldest sister. Stepping in between other Hogwarts students, Alyssa grabbed the books she needed for Potions, Defense Against The Dark Arts, Charms, Herbology, Astronomy, Transfiguration, and Muggle Studies. As the cashier checked her out, she also grabbed a few quills and black ink.

Flourish and Blotts Term 1 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Flourish and Blotts Term 1   Flourish and Blotts Term 1 EmptyFri Jan 07, 2011 12:48 am

Noah hurried down the street, he was so excited, he coudln't believe he would finally be going to Hogwarts. He had been waiting the whole summer and finally it was just around the corner. He pulled out his acceptance letter and supplies list from his pocket, both of which had become very worn as he had read it over and over again.

He eyes scanned over the page and he wondered what he should get first, then his eyes fell on the word books and he groaned, although he was looking forward to going to Hogwarts, he wasn't all that interested in doing work, he was excited for learning magic and doing cool stuff, but he was sure that along with that stuff came a ton of work and reading that to be honest, Noah was just not interested in.

As he was walking along Diagon Alley, he glanced up from his list and noticed that he had just walked past Flourish and Blotts. He stopped looked through the window and saw the multitude of books that lined the walls of the shop. Sighing he guessed that he had better do the boring stuff now and then he could see how many galleons he had left and see if he would be able to get a new broom.

Pushing open the door to the bookshop, the bell above the door chimed and Noah could immediately smell the distinct aroma of new books. Looking down at his list he had decided on the lessons that he would be taking and went in search for the books.

He wandered up and down the aisles for several minutes without even managing to find anything that would seem at all helpful to his lessons, and thought that he would never set foot in the library at school, not unless he was challenged to anyway. Noah could never back down from a challenge, he wouldn't allow himself to be beaten that easily, not without trying anyway.

Eventually he got a bit bored of wandering aimlessly up and down, and managed to find a shop assistant, well he assumed they were a shop assistant, either that or the person seemed to enjoy reading 'Hogwarts: A History' because the wizard had a stack of about twenty in his arms.

"Excuse me?" he tapped the man on the shoulder, the man turned around and peered around the pile of books, he glanced down at him quickly.

"First year, right?" he lifted an eyebrow, and Noah nodded, "You'll find all your books down the second aisle on the right, just keep going until you pass the giant Venus fly trap, and it should be on your left." The man then stumbled off with his heavy load of books.

Noah thanked the man and followed his instructions to find the right set of shelves. It seemed that the shop had made a whole bookcase ready just for the first years. I guess it did make it easier for people to find things. He stared at the Venus fly trap as he walked past and knew immediately he had found the right shelf when he got there. There were lots of gaps all over the shelf, it seemed the rest of the first years had already been and gone leaving their mark behind them in the form of an empty shelf.

"Right so I need..." he began muttering the names of the books on his list, searching the shelves and pulling them off making a small pile for himself. He had a final look down at his list to make sure that he hadn't forgotten anything. Then picking up his pile of books he made his way through the maze of shelves back to the front desk. Grabbing some quills, ink and parchment on the way past that section.

He gently dropped the books and other things on the front desk and pulled out his bag of money that his mother had given him.

"Good afternoon young man," the man behind the counter greeted him, "Excited to be going to Hogwarts in a couple of days?"

"Um yes Sir," he grinned, "I can't wait." Noah looked at the man with eager eyes, whenever someone mentioned Hogwarts he couldn't help but get excited.

"Okay, so let's see what we have here," the man pulled the items closer and read them off to a magical cashier, "Defence for Beginners, Herbology for Beginners, Potions for Beginners, Transfiguration for Beginners, 2 quills, parchment and some colour changing ink." He paused and looked back to Noah, "Is there anything else, m'boy?"

"Nope I think that's it," he glanced down at the items that the man was busy putting into a bad.

"Well that'll be 57 galleons then please?" the man asked, double checking the figure, Noah handed over the money and wondered if he would be even able to afford a slow broom for flying lessons.

"Thank you very much Sir," Noah said goodbye after taking the bag of books. The bell chimed once again as he left the shop and he was once again in the street of Diagon Alley.

The bell above the door rang as Kyra and her mother walked into Flourish and Blotts. They walked to the counter. Mrs. Henderson nudged her daughter forward.

Kyra cleared her throat and said, "Er, I need Astronomy, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions, and Transfiguration, all for beginners. I also need parchment, three quills, and red and blue ink."

She looked back at her mother; Mrs. Henderson gave her the thumbs up sign.

The shopkeeper said, "Wait here."

She came back with the books, parchment, ink, and quills. The supplies were piled on the counter, and Mrs. Henderson opened her purse. She handed Kyra twenty eight Galleons.

Kyra placed the golden coins on the counter. She handed her mum the supplies and Leeann placed them in her purse, the Expanding Charm she placed on it taking effect.

"Thank you!" said Kyra as she went to explore the expansive shelves of books.

Anne finally gave up on waiting to buy her books. She had to be able to read them, she was beyond curious about the magical world and the subjects she would be taking. She could get four now, but she had the money for that, but she was hoping to come back for two more a bit closer to the start of term.

She would also need some supplies. She wandered up to the counter, and placed her order.
"I would like beginners potions, charms, defence against the dark arts, and ancient runes. And one quill, ink, and parchement. I thinkt that comes to 47 galleons I think."

She took her books and walked out to meet her parents, she would definetly be back

Charlotte was glad to finally get her supplies. All of this was a surprise to her. She never thought that she, of all people, would be a witch! So as her aunt walked into Diagon Alley with her, she tried not to feel so surprised. Diagon Alley was so full of magic, so beautiful.
So when she walked into Flourish and Blotts, she tried to hide her excitement.
She looked at the books for a while and decided which ones to buy.
"Can I please have the beginners books for Ancient Runes, Transfiguration, Potions, Charms, DADA, History of Magic, Muggle Studies and Herbology. Oh, two quills and black ink?" she asked in a hurry from her excitement after her aunt started getting the money.

Jasmine walked into Flourish and Blotts and a wide grin spread over her face. She was in paradise. So many books! she thought as she perused though the aisles, laughing at the size of the minute texts and dropping her jaw in awe at the old, (and very expensive) tombs for Potions, Charms and the like.

She thought about her class list and then went to find a shop assistant.

"Hello. I'm after some books for Hogwarts. I'll need, Ancient Runes, Herbology, Transfiguration, Charms and Divination, all for beginner, please," she told the man.

Having a look at all the assortments of quills, inks and parchments, Jasmine made a selection.

"I'll also grab some parchment, some black, green and blue ink, and 2 Quills. Cheers."

Andy checked his list. He'd need to buy textbooks before he had continued on with the rest of his shopping as he wouldn't have enough arms to carry his supplies afterwards.

He looked around and found what he was after rather quickly.

Placing Beginner: Ancient Runes, Muggle Studies, Potions, DADA and a Rune dictionary, he gathered some parchment, some black, blue, red and green ink, and two quills, on the counter as well.

Andy put his newly purchased textbooks and supplies within his equally newly purchased cauldron and went out onto the street of Diagon Alley to continue his shopping.

Terry ran ahead of her parents to enter the bookstore, breathing in the delightful scent of paper, ink and the smell of those pretty owl feathered quills. She looked at her list then at the rows of books. Deciding it wasn't worth the time of looking for them on her own, she looked for an available clerk and looked at them for a few seconds before speaking, "Can you go get me the Astronomy, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Herbology, Charms, and Transfiguration textbooks for first year, please?"
The young man hurried to comply, soon returning with the requested books. "Would you like anything else, ma'am?" he asked.
"Parchment, blue and black ink and three quills, also."
Terry exited the shop, horrified by the poor quality of the quills.

Sami sighed as she re-entered the bookshop. She had came in here an hour before, searching for books but came out with nothing, except maybe a few friends. Her dad had scolded her when she returned home the next day, making her go back to buy her books and her wand that she had also forgotten to buy. "But I will be arriving at Fortesque's Ice Cream Parlor at exactly 3 o'clock sharp. You better be there this time."

The sweet smell of paper, ink, and books galore cheered her up as she moved towards the counter. If there was something that could make her happy in an instant, it was books. Especially the romance.

The black haired witch made her stop at the counter and rang the bell that lay in front of her. "Hello?" she asked, seemingly to no one. "I'm here to buy my school boooks; for Hogwarts!"

All of a sudden, a man in his mid-twenties popped out of no where, right in front of her scaring her half to death. She hoped this wouldn't become a habit, "What can I do for ya', miss?"

Sami cleared her throat, while trying to remember the classes she would be taking. "Um, yes. I need beginners books for Charms, Defense, Potions, Transfiguration, History, Astronomy, Muggle Studies, and Divination. Oh and some dark blue ink." She figured she'd just get some quills from that jokeshop down the street, The girl heard they had Spell-Checking quills, too.

The man whose nametag read "Paul Whithrow" raised an eyebrow at her choice of classes, but shrugged it off. He headed to the back and returned carrying eight seperate books, four in each hand. Paul set them on the table and rang them up. "That'll be 40 Galleons, miss."

Sami Criss reluctantly handed the man her money and grabbed the bag. She was almost out the door when she realized she had yet to get her romance novel she had been promising herself.

She eventually found herself in the War section, where you would find the heart-wrenching stories of those who were involved in the wizarding wars. She especially loved these because not only did she get to learn about real people, she got a good romantic tragedy out of it, as well!

After the eleven year old had settled on a book, (Ginny Weasley's "The Boy Who Loved") she sat down on a chair and began to read. The shop was silent for the most part, and just as Sami became engrossed in the novel a voice scared her, for the second time that day. "Whatcha reading?"

She jumped out of her chair, startled. She looked around wildly, but saw no one. Only when she looked back again, did she see the ghost standing in front of her looking at her incredolously. That was it.

Sami ran out of the store with her books (even the one she was reading) and into Diagon Alley. That was enough for one day, she reasoned. And walked back to Fortesque's.
