Astronomy Lesson One Empty
PostSubject: Astronomy Lesson One   Astronomy Lesson One EmptyMon Jan 17, 2011 2:11 pm

Logan walked up to the Tower from where her office was a few floors below. A grin was on her face because the stars were looking beautiful. It was perfect for her class considering they were going to be talking about planets and the sky seemed just right to be spotting them. The classroom had chairs all situated by the edge of the tower right behind telescopes, but she summoned the chairs to the middle of the room into a circle for the beginning of the class. She sat down in a chair in the middle of the circle and waited with her notebook in hand for students to arrive so she could check them off.

Class List:
Anne McSommers
Adreis Connors
Terry Berbatov
Kyra Henderson
Natalie Oliver
Silvana Harper
Makayla Hall
Alyssa Lastwick

Charlotte Willow
Essi Kettenun
(OOC: Post Your Arrival below. When the majority of the students get here class will begin.)

It was night time. An odd time to take a class, and a time Essi wasn't used to being awake at, but then again, the perfect time for an astronomy lesson.

She felt excitement bubble up inside her. She had a great fascination of space and the stars. Not an obsession; she didn't know much about them. But she found them intriguing. She loved lying on the grass at home and gazing up at the stars, watching her mother's rescued owls swoop, dive and hunt.

She pushed open the door to the classroom at the top of the astronomy tower and nodded a hello to the teacher. She then sat down on a random chair.

Silver walked up the stairs of yet another tower. 'What is with this place and their towers?' she thought. 'I mean I know it's a castle and all, but jeez! Too many stairs!'

When she finally got to the top, which took a lot of effort seeing as it was night time and all, she opened the classroom door and was completely blown away. it wasn't a classroom at all! They were on top of the tower. 'What do we do when it rains? Who cares? The stars are so beautiful!'

Looking up at the sky she still somehow found a way to her seat.

Dree walked into the classroom, grinning happily. She LOVED Astronomy. So much. The stars were beautiful. Whenever she was in a rotten mood, she'd look up at the stars and imagine what it must be like, or if they're was something else, not just they're little planet.

She saw Essi and quickly took the chair next to her. "Hey" she grinned at her fellow Raven. She took a quick look around the room. they're were only a few other students there at the moment. She remembered talking to Kiki about this class and wondered if the Hufflepuff would be in her class.

Lyss walked in dreamily, gazing at the night sky. She absolutely loved anything to do with night, and in her mind at least, Astronomy fell underneath that category. Stars fascinated her the most. She loved the way the lit up the night sky, like little fireflies. Well, not that little, Lyss thought, remembering hwo her mother had mentioned how big stars were in the actually sky. She was the only Slytherin so far, so she sat alone, waiting for the next to come.

Makayla walked to the Astronomy Tower, enjoying that this class was at night. She really loved being outside at night. It was so peaceful.

She made it to the classroom, and noticed that some other girls had already arrived. She smiled politely at them, and took a seat, gazing up at the stars and wondered what mysteries they held. She had always loved them as a small child, but she wondered if she was about to discover something about the stars, planets and whatnot's that would blow her Muggleborn brain. Being a witch was wonderful!

Anne noticed once again that most the students in her class were girls. She wondered if this was an oddity in her year, or if there were just more witches than wizards in general. She would have to make a note to ask someone about that, when she knew who could be asked.

She quickly took a seat, and got out her books. She wondered if the wizarding world still considered pluto a planet.

Kyra rushed into the room. Panting, she sat down anywhere she could. Running up those stairs took a LOT of energy!

She noticed that there were only girls in the room and instantly relaxed. No awkwardness. YES! She said hi to the girl she sat next to, but then froze. She had sat next to a Slytherin... Oh joy of joys.

Terry hurried up the stairs to the Astronomy tower and prayed that she wasn't late. Sighing in relief when she saw that class hadn't started, she sat down by Dree and took out her book. Still panting for breath, she sincerely hoped that her cousin wasn't in this class.

It was late, and she had tried to get some sleep in before class, and apparently she had almost overslept. Thank Wizard God that she had good stamina from running from the caretaker and Peeves.

Natalie eventually made it to Astronomy. She'd taken her time getting there because she kept stopping to have conversations with the paintings along the way. They were fascinating, and she got the impression that too many people walked past them without saying a word to them, which was just plain rude.

She looked around the room when she got there and selected a seat next to a blonde girl who she thought was in her house. Of course, she'd been known to be wrong about these things before on many occasions. It was all thanks to the damn wrackspurts making her brain fuzzy. Stupid things wouldn't leave her alone. "Hello," she said cheerfully to the girl next to her. The classroom was too quiet for her tastes, plus a little friendly conversation never hurt anyone.

Walking up the long flight of stairs, Peter knew he'd have to make sure that he set his alarm to make sure he had enough time to get here. He wasn't used to having to walk up so many stair and in the tower....That was very challenging seeing as he hated to be that surrounded by walls with no windows.

When he reached the top, he breathed a bit easier and looked around. There weren't many chairs left. Taking the first one that would leave an empty seat next to him on one side, he smiled a little at the Hufflepuff girl. Shutting his eyes he concentrated on breathing. He did not want to have a panic attack right here in front of everyone.

It took Ellen longer than she though to walk up the many stairs to the astronomy class she hoped she wouldn’t be late as she was looking forward to the class. She didn’t know much about the subject but she thought it would be interesting. When the slytherin walked through the door she saw that most others were already there, she took an empty seat next to a girl. She sat silently waiting for the lesson to begin.

Rowan walked into the pretty filled up classroom with Slytherin pride shown by her high held head. There were few chairs left as she approached the group of people seated in a circle. It was kind of strange that the teacher sat in the middle of the circle, probably not going to be able to see all of them if some were behind and in front. She took a seat at the first empty seat she came across, next to a Ravenclaw boy who had his eyes closed. Rowan couldn't help but wonder why his eyes were closed and his breathing was obviously audible.

She disregarded her curiosity though, and Rowan sat down next to him, setting down her messenger bag on the floor closer to the empty seat now next to her. She pulled out her Astronomy textbook and set it on her lap. She brushed her auburn side bangs out of her face before giving a bored sigh and looking around at the others. She hoped the class would start soon. Row actually was sort of interested in Astronomy, and the telescopes angled perfectly towards the skies were making her feel as though this might actually be an interesting class. The boy was slightly worrying her though, for he seemed to be concentrating solely on breathing, and she looked at him with a curious expression. She didn't want to interrupt whatever he was doing though, so she just watched him from her peripheral vision, her dark gray eyes scrutinizing.

Hester walked into the classroom. This was her second lesson ever, and again, she had chosen it because it sounded interesting. When she had realised that it was taken at night and at the top of a tower she had become even more interested.

She sat down in the circle of chairs. She didn't know anyone, so she just sat down randomly, not worrying who she would be next to. She dropped her bag to her feet and pulled out her text book.

Kaoru slipped into the classroom. That girl he had sat next to in one of his other lessons was there, and a load of other people that he didn't recognise. He sat down in an empty seat, wondering what astronomy would be like. He hoped that it would be practical, without much reading involved.

Natalie wasn't quite sure what was going on with the professor. They had all been sitting there for quite a while but the older woman had yet to say a single thing to them. She looked around at the other students in the class, many of whom looked just as bored as she was feeling.

"So, Mars is cool," she said to break the silence.

Catarina was asked to take over Astronomy. The professor needed to take leave and Catarina was more than happy to take over the class. She loved Astronomy and had quite the knack for it. Hopefully the students would be able to enjoy Astronomy as much as she did. The moment she arrived at Hogwarts, she dashed up the stairs to the Astronomy Tower. The former professor excused herself and Catarina smiled at the class in front of her. "Hello class, I'm Professor Catarina Burke. Welcome to Astronomy. Let's get started shall we?"

With a smile, Catarina wrote her name on the board using her wand. Under her name the class subject appeared and under that she wrote a question. Once the question was on the board, she turned and looked at the class. "What are the 8 planets and what planet is now a dwarf planet? I'd like if everyone took a crack at this. Whoever answers correctly, will get three galleons." She smiled at the class and stepped back to the front in the center. The students in her class seemed like a great bunch so far. Hopefully they would continue to be spectacular.

Kyra raised her hand up high, waiting for Professor Burke to call on her. She tensed up a bit, but relaxed when she was called upon. "Kyra Henderson. Hufflepuff. The dwarf planet you're talking about is Pluto."

She smiled and leaned back in her seat, closing her eyes. Maybe she wouldn't be as horrible at Astronomy as she first thought. Of course it was only the first lesson... NO! Positive thinking only! she thought to herself.

Hester raised her hand, all of the time wondering why the previous teacher had left.

"Mars is one of the planets," she said clearly. She knew that; all muggle children were taught the planets, and a way to remember them, when they were in about year three. She could have named them all, and in order as well, but she decided to let others have a chance at answering.

She sat back and hoped that astronomy would be something she would do well in.

Kao thought about the question. He knew the planets in Japanese, but not in English.

He almost said 'Kasei', and then realised that was Mars, which had already been said.

He thought really hard. Kaiousei translated as Neptune, didn't it? He hoped that Neptune was a planet and he wasn't making it up.

He raised his hand.

"Neptune," he said nervously.

He liked the look of the new acher; she seemed nice.

Terry looked at the new professor, confused. The other one looked fine to her, but oh well. She had beens tarting to nod off. Raising her hand slowly, she yawned and said, "Earth." She was too tired to put any effort in this class anymore. And either way, she wasn't even sure that the Earth was a planet...

Natalie was glad to see a professor come in. She wasn't sure what had happened to the last one and her lame attempt at conversation before class had gone nowhere.

She raised her hand after a Ravenclaw girl had spoken. "Another one is Jupiter," she said, grinning. Jupiter was her favorite planet, besides Earth, of course.

Lyss raised her hand to answer the question. She was glad they were talking about planets, this was something she knew. And she already liked the class, maybe Astronomy wouldn't be so bad. 'Saturn would be another one,'

Saturn had been one of Lyss' favorite planets, she was fascinated by the rings. Neptune and Mars as well, but those had already been said.

Kyra raised her hand again. She knew all the planets. Surprising, but good. Very good.

"Another one is Venus, which is apparently Earth's sister planet," she said. She flashed a smile at Professor Burke. What was wrong with being friendly to a teacher? It would probably make her a class favorite. She wanted that. It would be great to get along with the teacher, she'd probably get more credit...

Terry raised her hand again, another planet forming in her mind. "Raxicoricofallapatorius," she said slowly, stumbling over the word slightly. she bounced slightly, jumping when she realized she had left Iggy in her pocket. Glancing at Kyra, she rolled her eyes. She was sucking up to the teacher. Terry didn't care if she was a hated student of all of the professors.
