| Hester hurried into the library. She had looked at Egyptians perhaps once in primary school but she had never looked at their hieroglyphics properly. Now she had to write seventy five words on it. She nodded to the librarian and then began searching the sections. She wasn't sure whether she would find the book in the history section or the runes section. She decided to try the runes section first, seeing as she was doing the homework for ancient runes. She browsed the shelves, running her fingers over the spines of the books, until one caught her eye. - Quote :
- Egyptian Hieroglyphics
Well, that hadn't been too hard. She took the book and sat down at a table, taking out her writing equipment. Now she had to write her essay.

| Lavender stepped into the library, having a feeling this would be where Hester was. Working hard, as usual. The red head had such a work ethic it seemed, whereas Lavender didn't at all. As she wondered the bookcases a person came into view, it was obvious who it was.
"Boo," Lavender put her hands over Hester's eyes with a grin. Just the red head's presence made her happy. She removed her hands and kissed Hester's cheek, sitting beside her and snaking her arms round the girl.

| Hester grinned and hugged Lavender back.
"You gave me a surprise," she whispered.
She turned back to her book. She just didn't know how to begin this essay.
"You done your runes homework?" she asked, knowing that the other girl probably hadn't.
She opened the book at the contents page, hoping there would be a piece of introduction text that she could copy.

| Lavender grinned when Hester jumped a little.
"I know I did," She whispered back, grazing her lips against the red heads ear. Hester was looking down at her book, but Lavender wanted the girls attention all to herself. "Of course I haven't," She kissed Hester's cheek several times, a grin still on her lips. She trailed kisses down the side of Hester's neck lightly. "You work too hard," She muttered, hoping the red head wouldn't mind her forwardness now. Lavender felt much more confident about them being together and showing affection, she just wanted Hester to be too.

| Hester smiled, but she was nervous. Gently she pushed Lavender away so that she could see her face.
"Seeing as you did so well in the class, would you mind giving me a hand?" she asked. "I've just got to do this paragraph, but I don't know what I'm supposed to be writing about. And I don't want any more trouble seeing as I got in trouble with the headmaster the other night."
She dropped that in on purpose, to see if Lavender was interested. She wanted to share things with the other girl, not just time but stories as well. Everything.

| Lavender backed away as Hester pushed her lightly, she felt a little disappointed but shook it away. Hester spoke and she listened intently, she hung off every word the girl said these days.
"Of course," She grinned with a nod. "Ask away," Lavender looked down at the paper Hester was working on, only to look back up when the red head spoke next. "Woah, I'll help once you tell me what happened. The Headmaster? What did you do?" Lavender couldn't quite believe how much trouble Hester had gotten into, Lavender needed to catch up. She twirled a strand of red hair round her finger, a grin on her face but still with a hint of disbelief.

| Hester grinned and slipped her arm around Lavender's shoulder.
"I don't know what punishment he has in store for me, I hope nothing too time consuming since you won't be there with me," she said. "But basically you know when we were in the forest? And we went back into the castle? Well, up in my common room there were some Gryffindors still up, and one of them, Gwen, decided she would bunjy jump out of the window. The head spotted us from his office while we were about to haul her back up."
Hester leaned in and gave Lavender a quick kiss on the cheek, seeing as she had pulled away earlier. She had just been worried about the librarian spotting them.

| Lavender nodded in understanding, until Hester brought up bunjy jumping, instead this caused her eyes to widen.
"What? That's insane," She paused for a second to take it in. "I have to try that," She grinned as Hester kissed her cheek. "Punishment...hmm I'm not sure what you'll get," Lavender thought for a second before noticing the paper on the table in front of them again. "Oh, you need to do this, remember. Don't want you getting in trouble again," Lavender dragged the paper towards them, though she didn't really want to do it. She was much more interested in Hester's neck, which was so very close to her mouth.

| Hester laughed.
"Yeah, this," she said, glaring at the book. "I don't know anything about Egyptians. And what are heira- heiro- whatever they are, to do with wizards anyway?"
She wondered if there was a reason to the runes homework, like if it would actually help them with the runes they were studying, or whether it was just because the teacher didn't like the class very much.
She ran her hand through Lavender's hair.
"Oh well," she said, flipping through the book with her other hand. "Hopefully there'll be some introduction or something with all the information I need."

| Lavender cleared her throat, determined to help the girl next to her. She actually knew more than she let on, Lavender liked to keep all her cards close to her chest, one thing her mother had taught her. However, she felt she could give Hester a peek at least, maybe more.
"I'll help," Lavender took Hester's hand, the one that was just in her dark hair. "Right," She kissed the back of Hester's hand as she pulled the book towards her and flicked through the Hieroglyphics section. It was slightly helpful, though Lavender knew some things as well.
"Okay, you could start by introducing it and stuff, for example; it was established around 3100-2900 BC and so on. Then you could say what it was used for and how these uses developed and changed over time?" She paused to kiss Hester's neck, she could no longer resist. "It says here it was used to record the king's possessions, but then that changed and it was used for more religious things," Lavender grinned, hoping she'd helped. Then kissed the back of Hester's hand again.

| Hester smiled.
"Thanks," she said, beginning to take a few notes. She would write it up properly in the common room. Perhaps she would get the book out of the library to help her. She didn't want to waste the time she had with Lavender.
She knew that Lavender was clever, seeing as she had been so much better in the class than she had, but she was just realising that Lavender was a lot cleverer than she was letting on. Then again, there were things that Hester kept hidden about herself. Lavender had only seen the tip of the iceberg.

| Lavender watched as Hester scribbled some notes down, though it looked as if she wasn't going to write it up now.
"You're very welcome," She snaked an arm round Hester's waist, kissing her neck again. "What do you want to do now?" Lavender muttered with a sneaky grin, nipping at the red heads neck again, a little harder this time. She could tell there were still some things she didn't know about Hester, things she would hopefully find out in good time. Lavender was aware the librarian was around, but she usually stayed at her desk near the entrance.

| "I'm going to get the book out, then we can go somewhere if you like," said Hester, standing up. "Maybe outside? It's a nice day." She gestured at the sunlight streaming through the library windows.
She packed up her stuff in her bag and reached out for Lavender's hand.
"Are you coming?" she asked.

| Lavender gave Hester room to stand up and watched her pack her bag. The red head really was stunningly beautiful, and full of great ideas.
"Of course," Lavender took Hester's out stretched hand and the two of them made their way to the librarians desk, which was past a few book cases and students.

| "Just this one," Hester said to the librarian, who signed her book out. "Thanks," she said, putting it in her bag carefully (after all, the librarian was watching) and doing up the straps.
"Where should we go?" she asked Lavender. The school was so big, there were so many places they could go.

| Lavender followed Hester to the desk where she took out the book, she'd do the homework later, in the common room or something, she wasn't wasting time she had with Hester. She let her hand fall to her side as the red head put the book in her bag, checking to see if the librarian had noticed anything. It didn't look like it.
"I don't mind," Lavender answered Hester's question. "If you don't have anywhere in mind then we could always go back to the forest, i bet its even more beautiful during the day. But if you want to go somewhere else we can," She smiled, taking Hester's hand in hers again.
