Landon went home one weekend to show his sister everything he had learned. His family didn't live too far from Hogwarts so getting permission to leave for a short while wasn't a big deal. His sister had just come back from Australia and he was so his excited to see her again. In Landon's world, not seeing Lauren for a few months was the equivalent of a few years. It was hard to go that long without his sister so they both tried to be home as often as possible. Lauren was a laid back sister which definitely helped their relationship.
Once they were both hope and settled in, Landon told Lauren he wanted to show her something he had learned in school. Obviously she allowed him to show her. He told her to lock her door, and she did as he told her. They were both inside her room so she could observe what he did. Next, he pulled out his wand and pointed to the door. "Alohamora." He called out. Ok so the first try was a dud. He hadn't practiced often. Landon decided confidence was the key so he stood up straight and developed a determined look on his face. This time, Landon was sure it'd work. He held his wand up once again and called out Alohamora. This time, it worked and he smiled up at his sister.
Lauren told him she was very proud of him and Landon couldn't help but grin. It was great to hear his big sister was proud of him for achieving something especially since she always did so well when she was a Hogwarts student. His sister had received awards and had amazing grades. Most of the professors knew her but only for great things. His sister proposed he try, Alohamoras opposite, Colloportus. At first, Landon was nervous but he quickly realized it was better this way. He could learn a new spell and also gain more admiration from Lauren.
After thinking for a little while, Landon finally decided to try the spell. Lauren explained to him it would definitely take multiple tries. It even took her multiple tries. In order to succeed, he needed to be confident and determined. Lucky for Landon, his confidence had increased drastically. With a sigh, he held his wand up and made sure he had the correct posture. He cleared his mind so he could focus only on the spell and door in front of him. "Colloportus." He said in a gentle-like voice. Lauren shook her head and told him even his voice needed to sound determined. To show he understood, he nodded.
This time, Landon was sure his voice was going to sound better. He held his wand up again and stared at the door. "Colloportus." He said louder and more determined. Even so, nothing happened. Hopefully the third time it worked. Landon always wanted to get things done in three tries. One could only hope it would be that easy. This time, hopefully his last, he stood perfectly still and stared at the doorknob since that's where the lock was. He held his wand out at it and said loudly and determined, "Colloportus." This time the door unlocked.
Lauren walked over to her door and opened it. "Very good." She told him with a smile. "I'll help you with other spells if you ever need anything." Landon was thrilled he had his older sister's support. In the long run, he would certainly need her help and it was reassuring to know she'd always be there for him.
