A Sight for Unprepared Eyes Empty
PostSubject: A Sight for Unprepared Eyes   A Sight for Unprepared Eyes EmptyMon Feb 14, 2011 7:57 pm

Fiona approached the large white building known as Gringotts Wizarding Bank, still quite a ways off but able to see it quite clearly. The size was impressive and the white marble made it stand out in the scruffy old surroundings of Diagon Alley. With downcast eyes, Fiona maneuvered through the crowds of people walking across the cobbled-stone streets of the Alley, getting peeved by the fact that the streets were so crowded. It was a week before school, though, and that explained why, but it didn't help Fiona's mood as she felt her foot being stepped on. She glared at the nearest person to her, a tall man, but he barely noticed the girl, continuing on his way.

Fiona finally made her way to the snowy white building, cautiously walking up the stone steps. There was a creature standing by the bronze doors, and Fiona wasn't too sure what it might be. It looked like a vile, elf-like creature with a cunning face with eyes she did not trust. She searched her mind for a proper word to describe the thing as she finally reached the top of the stairs.

Well, maybe that's a goblin, she thought with apprehensive eyes as she walked into the building. The goblin bowed as she walked by, and she noted its particularly long fingers and feet before turning to the next pair of doors she came across. These doors were silver and had a rather eerie, but clever poem engraved on them, warning off thieves and the like. Fiona smirked at the poem before heading through those large doors and coming into a vast marble hall with many more doors. There were goblins all along the hall, going about their business weighing in coins and diamonds with skilled hands. It made her furrow her brow in thought, but she didn't break stride as she went to the counter like the man from the Leaky Cauldron had advised her.

"Uh, 'Afternoon," greeted Fiona to a free goblin, taking out a letter from inside her pocket. She pushed it across the counter and over to the goblin, retracting her hand as its long fingers made a grab for the letter. "I'm supposed to open an account here, and.." Fiona paused going into her back pocket and removing euros and dollars from her pocket, pushing this money across the counter as well. "..I need to exchange this for Wizarding currency.." she said, not quite sure what Wizards used for currency. The goblin's eyes turned from the letter to Fiona, eying her rather warily that made her want to glare at him, but she resisted the urge and stayed expressionless. The goblin gave a curt nod, taking the Muggle money into his hands with long, gnarled hands, counting it all and giving her back an array of gold, silver, and bronze coins. "And your key," he added, handing over a golden key another goblin had just handed to him. Fiona resisted the urge to recoil as she took the small key from the goblin. "Thanks. Have a nice day," she said carefully, taking her money (which was in a small velvet coin bag) and her key, which she slipped into her pocket and exiting the hall. She didn't really like those creatures, they were a bit discomforting..
