Parkinson Manor gets a visitor

They smelled good. It would be a hard choice.

"Ummmm..." Hester stalled, gazing at them. "I think... Lemon!"

She had a thing for lemon cake. There was something so... lemony about it.

"Yeah, lemon, please, " she confirmed, before she could change her mind. She hoped that it would taste as good as it smelled.

Lavender studied Hester's face as she stared at the cakes. Her eyes were sparkling beautifully and her tongue was slowly working its way across her lips. Red strands of hair were dangling around her face, one had creeping into the gap between her eyes. So when Hester made her decision and turned back to Lavender, Lavender couldn't help but move the strand to it rightful place.

"Sure, my favourite," The brunette grinned before leaning into the fridge and picking up the cake. She placed it on the counter and grabbed a knife, cutting two pieces. One slightly bigger than the other. After putting them on plates Lavender handed Hester the bigger slice.

Hester smiled and took the plate from Lavender.

"Thanks," she said, before picking a crumb off the edge and eating it. It did taste good, and after that crumb she took a bigger piece, crumbling it off the edge of the slice with her fingers.

"Got any where to sit?" she asked as an afterthought, glancing around the huge kitchen.

Lavender nodded, knowing full well they had a perfectly good table in the next room. But instead she carefully took Hester's plate and placed it on the side before grasping the red head's hips and lifting her onto the counter next to the plate. She then handed the girl her plate back.

"There," Lavender couldn't suppress the smirk crossing her lips. Teasing Hester was fun, though she hoped the girl wouldn't mind. Now she thought about, Hester hadn't been at all difficult to lift. This made Lavender grin into her bite of cake.

Hester grinned.

"Well, that was fun," she said, finding herself sat on top of the counter. "I'd lift you up, but I'd have to get down to do it and that would be kinda counter productive..."

She picked at her cake again, another tiny mouthful. It was really nice and she wanted to make it last.

A grin played on Lavender's face when Hester spoke, luckily she seemed to enjoy it.

"No no no. I weigh too much for a start," She stuck her tongue out, positioning herself to stand directly in front of the red head. The cake was delicious and she finished it quickly, though Hester was still eating hers. Lavender put her plate in the sink before returning to her girlfriend, placing both hands on the girls thigh. "I'm so glad you're here," She basically whispered with a smile.

"So am I," replied Hester, lifting up her hands and running them through Lavender's hair. She reached over and took another small bite of her piece of cake- she couldn't resist, it was just too nice.

Her thoughts flicked to her parents, but she didn't care about them right now. Not at all. She just wanted to stay here with Lavender, and then go back to Hogwarts, and forget all about this stupid summer.

Lavender closed her eyes briefly as Hester ran her hands through her hair soothingly. It made a shiver run down her spine. When the hands were removed she opened her eyes to see her girlfriend taking another bite of cake, causing Lavender to smile.

"Do you want to go for a walk in the gardens when your finished?" She asked, pulling herself up onto the counter and kissing the side of Hester's face. Breathing lightly on the girls ear teasingly.

Hester grinned.

"Yeah, sure," she said, happily. She was enjoying being shown around her girlfriend's home, it was fun. And different. She had never seen a magical home before. It was so very different to hers.

She stood up, taking Lavender's hand. "I'm finished now," she said with a grin. She wondered what the garden would be like.

Lavender led the way through the kitchen and out the double glass doors to the porch. White clouds soared above them as Lavender led her girlfriend down the porch steps and onto the green grass. Tall hedges ran either side of the grass, multicoloured flowers scattered every which way. The entrance to a hedge maze, her father prided himself on, stood to their right.

"Want to go on an adventure?" Lavender grinned, eyes shining with excitement. Of course, she knew the maze like the back of her hand, but Hester didn't.
