Dawn of Nothing Special

Different setting, different life, different rules, but still retaining some of the same routines. It was early in the morning and Kutoutuo was on the far side of the lake near the small cover of terrain that had a number of rocks scattered about the grass. Looking at the sight, he felt that it was not long ago that he used to line up bricks with spaces in between them before attempting to run across them without knocking one over, a test of balance, lightness, and speed.

"Even though you've done such activities successfully without fail, one should not be complacent as lack of use can lead to total atrophy."

The words that he heard from his guardian, Ridovia Lorenzetti, rang in his head. Looking back at the rocks that were scattered about the grass, Kutoutuo noted the distances between them before mentally plotting a course of action. A moment later, he ran on top of the rocks, moving swiftly across them without staying more than a second on them until he reached the end of the light.

Looking back, he decided to see if he could create a more challenging pattern to use.

Cass had been a little missing in action recently, and that was all down to having the flu. No need to blame the food or the students, it always seemed to drop by her this time of year, but she was sure she'd do something in her routine to provoke it, not that she checked.

To make sure her recuperating sinuses were still in check, she has a tissue rolled up in her sleeve, just in case.

It had been lonely for the second year Hufflepuff in the Hospital wing. Ever adamant that she not be in a ward full of people with proper reasons to be in there-- the amount of people injured from playing Quidditch or locking horns with particularly spiteful Slytherins was astronomical-- she had requested she make her deathbed in her dorm. Apparently Death had other plans for her that day, or so she liked to think.


There seems to be a boy running facing her and she has to grin, because he moves so fast. The only time she ever does things so fast is when she's eating the floor, or indeed doing a cartwheel.
She can distinctly remember the face at the sorting and was sure she was talking to the right one. Or was he a Ravenclaw? She had been eating liberal amounts of Cauliflower inbetween the feast so it was hard to remember every fact for sure.

Never mind, it doesn't matter.
As he turns around, she catches up with him, and making sure she has firm footing on a big rock, cartwheels onto the next as the rock formation fans out. As she rises, upright again, she smiles at the boy and offers him the next rock with her hand outright.

A few moments of calculating the next course and Kutoutuo had a more challenging pattern in mind to execute. Wider distances between the rocks meant the need to add more strength into the leaps but that could throw the user off balance if not channeled properly.

'Have the energy before the intent. Success is only when the spirit follows the intent. Concentration is the pivotal ground of focus.' he thought to himself.

Inhaling and exhaling, Kutoutuo could visualize his next movements before springing forth, running and jumping from rock-to-rock as he did before, his feet touching each rock for no more than a second amid crossing the distances between them without touching the grass. But amid his recreational activities, Kutoutuo noticed that there was another person present, a unknown girl with blond hair. Well, he hardly knew anyone besides Zuko, who he had met in the Armory Gallery, so it seemed like another person to properly encounter.

Amid the brief glance at the girl while speed-jumping from rock to rock, Kutoutuo nearly lost balance of his footing when he saw her cartwheel from one large rock to the next that he quickly stopped his movements the moment his right foot landed on a flat rock, standing on it with only one foot. Seeing her offer the rock next to her, Kutoutuo propelled off the rock he was standing on before landing on it just only for a split second, using it as a ground to jump-spin onto the next rock. He landed perfectly on the rock, standing on it with only his left foot while his right foot was tucked behind his left knee while his direction had him facing the unknown blonde.

He was a little bit amused but kept a neutral expression as he kept his eyes on the girl, wondering on what she was going to do next.

Cass grinned when the boy undoubtedly out-did her cartwheel. Well, what could she say? Cartwheels were an everyman's move. Lucky it was her favourite.

"Wow," she says, catching a breath. Balance has never been a strong point, but then again, it's always been much easier to keep a level head when the ground looked like sky and the sky looked like a bottomless pit ready to eat you-- nevermind.

She racked her brains quickly trying to think of anything that was really neat that she could do on a rock from one to the other. Or maybe she was thinking about it too simply.

Instead, she did a wide proud smile, and put her hands to the rock she was on, and pushed down, gently letting her legs rise until they were perpendicular to the floor. She was going to chance putting one arm off the rock, but the rocks seemed to be a little bit slippy, or this one at least. Besides, last time she did that she fell on her head and it hurt.

She stayed there for a moment or two, before curling them down in a tuck and sat on her bum on the rocks, crossing her legs and folding her arms.

"Your turn."

Kutoutuo merely raised an eyebrow, seeing the girl remaining motionless and in a rather unique sitting position. Well, he didn't know what to think at the moment while standing on the rock with just one foot.

He looked around the rocks in the grass, noting their patterns before seeing a peculiar arrangement that looked like the catalyst for an eye-catching stunt. The youth took time to imagine the movements in his head along with the calculations and computations to speed and distance. This shouldn't be hard.

Kutoutuo quickly bent his left leg down before pushing off the rock, propelling himself onto the next rock that he only touched with both feet for only a split second while executing a spinning jump that added more momentum. As he landed on the third rock, Kutoutuo used it to spring into the air where he executed a spinning corkscrew somersault before landing with his right foot on one rock and his left foot on the other rock, both of which were only apart by a foot.

'Lightweight is sure admirable.' he thought to himself while looking at the blonde.
