Trying to Sleep but People are Being Jerks and Not Shutting Up

Jacob slumped in a chair, yawning slightly. It had been a long day. Beka barked as she was forgotten on the floor. Jacob stuck his tongue out at the small terrier. "No." Beka whimpered and curled at the eleven year old's feet, hiding her face with her paws. Rolling his eyes, Jacob leaned back and relaxed, closing his eyes, hoping to catch some sleep before dinner.

He got thirty seconds of somewhat quiet before conversation started up and the common room got loud, making beka wake up and begin barking.

Great...

Danni walked into the common room and was surprised by the large number of people in there. Probably all anxious for dinner or something. Danni walked past small groups of Slytherins towards where it seemed just slightly less populated. She passed by a dog who seemed to have just started barking, and it was also attracting attention from surrounding Slytherins. Danni saw some people throw dirty looks towards the dog and its owner, who was sitting back in a chair and looked beyond caring of the outside world. His eyes were closed, and she paused for a moment. Deciding him as probably better company than anyone else in the common room at the moment, Danni took a seat in a nearby armchair, a small smile on her face because of the cute dog. Her thoughts slightly swayed to her own dog. Louie was probably in the Girl's Dorms or somewhere close by.

Danni hoped she wasn't intruding upon the boy's thoughts, but she had become slightly curious as to why he was out in the Common Room if he was trying to catch some sleep. With a merely innocent, curious voice, she directed her words towards him. "As you can probably tell, this may not be the best place for a nap," Danni commented lightly, a small grin on her face as she looked at the boy inquisitively.

Jacob peered through his cracked eyes at the girl, nudging Beka with his foot. "Shush, Bekky." he scolded halfheartedly.

Rolling his eyes, he snorted, deciding to sit up and open his eyes fully so he could glare at the other Slytherin. "I know that. I'm just too tired to go all the way to the Boys Dorms."

Seriously. What was it with girls? They act like you have to be perfect and bow down to them.

One of Danni's eyebrows arched as she looked at the boy. Her eyes slightly narrowed, but not to the point of glaring like the boy was doing towards her. Why did there have to be such hostility in Slytherin? It was probably because the boy was cranky from lack of sleep. That thought amused her.

She chose to remain impassive, though, and her slightly narrowed eyes became expressionless again within a few seconds, just a tiny hint of amusement in her eyes. She chose to focus her attention on the grandfather clock in one corner of the Slytherin Common Room for a moment, wondering when dinner would come. She'd accidentally missed lunch, having been caught up in writing a reply to her brother's owl, then doing some homework. "I was just stating a fact." she said aloud, not sure if he would be better company than the others in the room after all. She looked at the boy again, having concluded that it would be just about ten more minutes until people could go for dinner.

"No need for the hostility, even if you are tired," she said with an airy tone of voice, now king of hoping he would just go back to trying to sleep now, rather then sending her glares.

Leighton walked into the common room, Drea perched on her shoulder, purring ever so slightly. Leighton was tired, but not enough to take a nap. She wanted to socialize a little bit. School is no fun without someone to have fun with. Hopefully there was someone worthy of her time in the common room. If not, she would have to resort to talking to people from other houses. Possibly Emily, but mostly likely Lachlan. And dealing with her cousin didn't seem like the best of ideas.
Noticing Dani and another boy, Leighton walked over to them. Standing next to Dani, Leighton draped an arm over her shoulder. "Hello Dani," Leighton said pleasantly, smirking down at her. Leighton was sure Dani might not recognize her; Leighton had decided to wear her hair curly today.
Leighton looked over at the boy who seemed to be glaring at Dani. Leighton had decided to take Dani under her wing. She liked the girl. This boy had no right to be glaring at her. "I'm Leighton Vladimir, second year. Who are you?" Leighton's voice wasn't malicious or mean. Simply curious and calm.

Jacob sighed heavily. It looked like he wasn't going to be able escaping these girls. "I-I'm Jacob. First year, quite o-obviously," he said, as if his height betrayed his age, and cursing the stutter that chose that time to show up.

"I believe that you did not introduce yourself properly." Jacob told the first girl- Leighton called her Dani- icily.

"And...Leighton was it? Lachlan told me about you." He told the second year, regaining some of his composure and holding back his stutter successfully.. He was pretty sure...it could've been another Slytherin girl with an American accent.

Beka barked at the cat, and Jacob made no move to shush her.

Danni saw Leighton coming just moment's before she reached them. danni gave Leigh a smile, glad to have at least one decent person around. Upon first glance, it had taken a moment to recognize the girl because of her now curly hair, but she managed to remember. Danni glanced at the boy when Leighton asked him his name. He replied saying his name was Jacob.

Somehow, the boy managed to act hostilely towards her again, this time directing icy words at her. What had she done this time?! Managing to supress her building anger (and not without difficulty), Danni managed an even tone as she responded. "Danielle Valencia, first year. I go by Danni, though," she told Jacob, over his dogs barking. She thought it was kind of rude of him to just let the dog bark at Leigh's cat like that, but she didn't say anything, trying not to give the boy any actual reason to be more mean towards her. It didn't really bother her, though; the attitude nor the barking. It was just making her opinion of him so far lower.

Jacob sighed. why couldn't some guys come and talk to him- instead of some girls? Leaning forward to pick up Beka, therefore shushing her, he scratched her ear. Smirking internally, he decided to annoy them enough that they would leave him alone-peacefully- for the rest of the year. He wasn't a big fan of girls- other than Lachlan, of course.

"So, how do you like Slytherin so far?"
