| "A couple of times," said Hester. "But only breakfast and a sandwich. I think. I don't remember."
She wrestled with the owl before giving up. She strode over to the window and threw the bird out into the sky.
"Get a chill, for all I care!" she snapped to the bird. Then she strode pointedly back over to Lavender and grabbed another owl.

| Lavender listened as Hester said she had been to the kitchens before. Lavender herself hadn't, though her brother had told her about it several times. He'd told her where it was and she'd gone looking for it before, just never entered. When Hester chucked the owl out the window Lavender bit her lip, the red head wasn't happy.
"It's all right, he'll be here soon," She tried to calm Hester down and diffuse her anger.

| "He'd better be," said Hester angrily, attempting to clean yet another owl. Then she gave up, dropping the owl which fluttered off in a fright. She sat down on the floor, her head in her hands. She hated that teacher right now. Really hated him. If he didn't come back soon she would simply leave.
She bit her lip in frustration, drawing blood, but it was hidden behind her arm, out of sight of Lavender.

| Lavender continued to clean her owl as Hester spoke, though stopping when Hester sat on the floor, her face in her hands. Lavender frowned, dropping her own owl too. She hated seeing Hester in such a state.
"It's okay," She sat beside the red head, rubbing her back. "And don't tell me not to fuss over you, cause you know i will anyway," Lavender grinned, resting her chin on Hester's shoulder before placing her lips against the fabric of the girls top. "Mmm, you small nice,"

| That made Hester smile. She stood up, determined to get every single last owl in the room cleaned if it killed her.
She gave Lavender a quick peck on the cheek and then grabbed another owl.
"What are you waiting for? Come on!" she said, a little hysterically. This place was driving her half crazy.

| Lavender was a little taken back by the peck but grinned all the same, she couldn't help but grin these days. Hester seemed very hysteric and Lavender wasn't sure if this was something she should worry about or not. Though she didn't say anything, instead she grabbed another owl like Hester had. | |

| Hester felt like screaming. After the stress of yesterday with the lake, and the excitement of last night in the forest and common room, she was feeling extremely overwhelmed.
She began to scrub the next owl, hoping desperately that the caretaker would come soon and let them leave. This was actually hell.
She watched Lavender out of the corner of her eye. The younger girl probably thought she was nuts. Well, she was nuts. That shouldn't be news to anyone.

| Lavender sighed as she went back to cleaning the next owl, this was so boring and tiring. Yes, Hester was there to keep her company, something she was very thankful for, but even that wasn't helping any more. Especially since Hester seemed to be finding it even more difficult than she was. Lavender's current owl was quiet enough she supposed, it didn't put up much of a fight, though the ear trick didn't work this time. She kept an eye on Hester all the while, to check she was doing okay and didn't hit anymore setbacks. | |
