And all because of a stupid bet...

Louis shifted nervously as he walked down the corridor. It was called the Forbidden Corridor, after all, and one must assume that there's a reason for that...

What was he doing here if he were possibly, maybe a little bit scared, one might wonder. Well, it all started with a bet from his so called cousins, and sort of spiraled from there.

He trekked down the corridor a little ways and was about to turn back around and head back, when-

"What are you doing?" Bri whispered at the boy down the corridor, Louis, if she remembered correctly.

She'd been walking along, minding her own business, when she saw someone in Ravenclaw robes heading for the Forbidden Corridor. She was worried, partially because she was afraid he'd get into trouble therefore causing trouble for their house, and partially because the corridor was forbidden and there had to be a reason for that, and she didn't want him to get hurt either.

She hurried down the corridor, glancing behind her to make sure she wasn't being followed, and stopped when she got to them. "What are you doing down here?" she asked again when she was closer.

Louis would honestly hate to admit it, but Bri had rather... startled him.

"There was- it was-" he muttered, gesturing wildly and, quite probably, making no sense at all. "A bet, I s'pose," he finally managed, still in shock.

Well, it was the forbidden corridor, after all, shouldn't he have been expecting surprises? Even second year, Ravenclaw, girl surprises.

"It was a bet," he said again, after the shock wore off.

"A bet to do what? Get yourself hurt or killed or something bad like that?" Bri asked with wide eyes. What kind of person would make a bet with someone else to get them to go somewhere that was more likely than not dangerous.

Her head whipped around when she thought that she heard footsteps coming. She started to panic and was torn between getting in trouble or possibly getting killed. She had a spotless record so far and she wasn't exactly willing to give it up just yet. "Go," she gave him a light push and started further down the corridor. She really didn't want a teacher to catch them there.

"All it was was a bet to walk around the Forbidden Corridor," Louis said with wide eyes. He didn't think it was that stupid.

She started pushing him further into the corridor, and he knew what was panicking her. The sound. Of course, with a choice between death and expulsion, Bri would choose death.

But he started further down the corridor anyhow, despite and judgment issues he was pretty sure that Bri had.

...Maybe, if they died here, he'd become a ghost, or he'd get to meet his dead Uncle Fred, or something good would come of it, at least.

Bri followed Louis, looking over her shoulder now and then as they went. She needed to keep track of where the footsteps were so that they wouldn't get caught if someone really was following them. She stopped when there came a division in the corridor and was stuck with a choice of which way to go. She was horribly indecisive and figured it would be best to let Louis choose which path they took. "Which way?" she whispered to him.
