Noah stepped into the crowded Owl Emporium, the noises of screeches and hoots filled his ears as he made his way to the shelf of the shop that he needed. His parents were wandering around another boring shop along Diagon Alley and he had asked to pop in here just to pick up a couple of things before he had to leave for Hogwarts. The shelves that contained the owl food was situated by a post with a rather small owl with large eyes that seemed to stare at him as he made his way over.

He smiled at the bird, because it looked rather funny, but what Noah was least expecting was for that owl to see his smile as an invitation to flap it's wings and perch itself in a new spot.

All Noah had needed to get were some owl treats for his pet owl, Jupiter, and find his parents as quickly as possible. But now he stood with a small screech owl perched on his head that was unwilling to move. The shop seemed fairly busy and all of the shopkeepers seemed to be busy helping everyone else.

Noah tried to bob up and down, trying to scare the owl into moving but he didn't want to frighten it too much. He tried to gently to prod the owl so that it would move back to it's perch, but no, the owl was stubborn and rather stupid and thought that Noah's head was it's new resting post.

"Um anyone," he glanced around to see if there was anyone that could help him, "Anyone?"

Ellen had been walking around the crowded shop, she didn't have an owl herself but her brother was lazy so she had said she would get some treats for his owl, seeing as that was the kind of nice sister she was. She had only done it because she loved the owl, and he was parctically hers anyway, her brother was uninterested in it unless he need to send mail or something. She was wandering around looking at some of the owls when she noticed a boy with an owl on his head. She found it reather odd but the sight of an owl ontop a boys head was also quite amusing. She could see that the owl didn't want to move. She looked around to see if anyone else had noticed, no one had so she decided she better go and see if she could help. She carefully moved through the crowded shop towards the boy.

"you need some help?" she asked him. She knew she wasn't the best to try and help but seeing as the shop keeper was busy and n one else had noticed the boy, she would have to try and help him herself.

Noah continued to walk around in circles trying to get the small feathery creature to budge and go and sit back on it's own perch but there didn't seem to be much chance at that. It seemed that the bird wanted to stay perfectly where it was and no one was going to get it to do anything otherwise. It let out a small hoot and Noah was sure that it was the owls way of laughing at him.

"Will you just -"Noah was beginning to get really frustrated, but before he could finish a girl had made his way through the crowd and asked him if he needed any help. "Er, yeh, that would be great. I think this poor bird is a bit confused as to the difference between a perch and a human."

Noah tried to poke the bird again, but it simply bit his finger. Noah quickly pulled his hand away and stuck his finger in his mouth and scowled.

"Either that, or it's just trying to really annoy me," Noah took a step towards the girl, and held out his hand, he was sure it must have looked rather amusing with him greeting her with an owl sat on top of his head, "Noah Grayson, by the way. I'm going to be a first year at Hogwarts next year."

She smiled at the boy "you know poking the little guy porbbly isn't goign to help much" she said to him chuckling. She hoped the boy wold get she was only teasing him a little. "hmm yeah he does seem a little confused, they are very clever creatures though so he may have just decided he doesn't like you much" she said to him grinning. It was rather amausing as she tried to contain her laughter, so far she was managing.

That was until the boy, who called himself Noah held out his hand and introduced himself. The site was just too funny and she had to bite her lip to stop herself laughing. "Ellen Fairwell, i'll be a firstyear too" she replied.

Carefly she outstreched her arm towards the bird it was easy to do so seeing as Noah was around the same height as her. She had decided she better try an dhelp afetr all she was not there to make conversatin with him but to try an dhelp him. Ellen hoped that if the owl allowed her to sroke him she could easily pick the small bird up and place him back on his perch, a safe distance from noah's head.
