Whoever said inanimate objects can't sing was obviously wrong Empty

Classes had just about finished, and she had a couple hours to do whatever she wished. She'd been absolutely itching to play her violin ever since she had it brought to Hogwarts.(She still didn't quite know how the Professors had managed it).
Forgetting to close the door behind her completely, Vanessa carried her instrument case and set it upon a desk.
Taking her sweet time(she was in no rush), she opened the case and began preparing herself to play.
First, she took out her shoulder-rest from it's little compartment, second, she took out her instrument and fastened the shoulder-rest to its underside. Setting down the violin carefully on another desk out of her way, she took out her bow, and checked how much rosin it had against her arm. Barely any white appeared when she ran it down, so she also took out her rosin...

It wasn't until a couple minutes later that she was finally ready to play. Tuning had taken a particularly long time, because the strings were relatively new and she hadn't so much as touched her instrument since she left to Hogwarts.
Caressing her instrument, that she named Lawrence, she then set it upon her left shoulder, and held the bow in her right hand.
She brought her bow up to meet the strings and hovered her left hand's fingers over them;ready to begin.
It started as a simple melody. It was a lullaby. Her father had often hummed it to her as she slept so that when she dreamed, she would dream happy dreams. It was called "The Swan" by Saint-Saens, and it had always been one of her favorites.
When her father played it on the violin, it would always sound as if the violin itself was singing along to the beautiful piece.
Sing for me, please. Sing for me like you did my father.
She left the subtle notes carry her into the more complicated shifts and crosses, and let herself know only about the music;nothing else mattered anymore.
She neither noticed nor heard when someone started listening from the crack in half-closed door.

Terry listened to the pretty music as she kept an eye out for Peeves, who was after her for some reason. The music was different from her usual blasting of the Weird Sisters, and she enjoyed it greatly. It was more.. relaxing. She didn't recognize the song (probably by some random Muggle) but it was pretty- for a Muggle song anyways.

Sitting down at the door, she kept her ear at the crack, and listened to the notes as her hyper-ness slowly faded away.

Thomas found himself heading towards the empty classrooms again, it seemed to be becoming a place for him to often haunt, he hardly minded though, the people that were there tended to be interesting. He was just thankful he hadn't met Peeves in there yet, he'd heard of the nasty poltergeist and really didn't want to meet him any time soon. He heard the sound of music coming from down the hallways, it was really good. It certainly was Muggle Music from what little he could guess, so he treaded carefully down the hallway, coming at a stop near the door, to see someone he didn't quite recognize by the doorway, he leaned back silently against the wall. Listening to the music was rather peaceful, though he wondered who the artist was, he could wait until they were done playing. No need to frighten them or make them feel embarrassed after all.

Terry looked at the boy who was leaning against the wall. She had seen him around this area of the castle a lot, so she guessed it wasn't much of a surprise. "Hi." she whispered, smiling at the boy in greeting. Glancing through the door crack, she recognized Vanessa, from the lake when she fell from that tree. "I'm Terry." she introduced, holding out her hand, a Muggle buzzer in the palm of it while she made sure the palm was out of the boy's view. Immature, but still funny.

Vanessa breathed in and out with the music;perfectly in sync. She hadn't felt this in a long time, and now she remembered exactly why she missed it.
She reached the last few notes, and let the final bittersweet note taper and disappear.
Sighing all but inaudibly, Vanessa lowered her bow and instrument from their positions and looked at them deep in thought. That had sounded lovely even to her, but it still didn't sound like her father could do it. She sighed again like an old man that had seen much, instead of like the eleven year old girl she was. She really missed her father, and she couldn't wait for the day she could match her father in skill and sound quality.
She was just about to bring her violin back up to start another piece, when she she heard a noise from behind her.
She turned slowly, as if scared to know who or what it was, and was surprised at what she saw.
She felt a blush creep up to her face; could feel the telltale burn.
"H-Hello..."
