| Vanessa currently sat comfortably under the shade of a large tree out by the Great Lake. She had already grown somewhat fatigued by her explorations of the grounds(what she was allowed to explore, anyways). The land around the castle and the castle itself were truly beautiful. There was something surreal in it all. She could hardly believe that everything that had happened until then was real. It was for that reason that she had taken it upon herself to get some fresh air to clear and relax her head. Then, when she was outdoors and saw the grounds in the daylight, she knew she had to explore it all. With the enormity of the land, it wasn't surprising she would want to rest. "It's like I've walked right into a wonderful book, or a dream..." | |

| Leighton walked by the lake, Drea sitting on her shoulder purring. The lake was gorgeous and seemed to be almost black. It was amazing to be somewhere there wasn't buildings and traffic. It was peaceful at Hogwarts and Leighton felt relaxed. While Leigh was walking, she came across a girl sitting under a tree. When Leigh stopped walking, Drea's small grey head popped up to see what Leighton was staring at. The girl looked deep in thought. She had pale blue eyes and light brown hair. Her eyes were glazed over as if she wasn't looking at anything in particular and there was a slight smile on her face. From what Leighton could see, the girl was a Gryffindor. Leighton walked toward the girl. Leigh wans't a very shy girl and she already had a friend in Gryffindor. Maybe, this girl was like Emily; not a Slytherin hater. Leighton placed a smirk on her face and Drea began purring again. That was a good sign; Drea was a good judge in character. "Hey," she said to the girl in her American accent. "I'm Leighton Vladimir, Slytherin first year." Leigh introduced herself. | |

Vanessa returned to the world of the living, and as if waking up from a strange dream, she sat confused for a second before remembering she should respond. "H-Hi I'm Vanessa, Nice to m-meet you," She introduced herself without a thought about what type of consequence it would bring. Tucking a flyaway strand of hair behind her ear, Vanessa offered Leighton a smile and patted the grass next to her. "You can sit if you like". If asked what she was feeling at that moment, she doubted she could accurately describe what she felt right then. It was as if she could, by some weird reason, feel that they were both shy in company in others. She understood perfectly how difficult it could be to approach someone new. Besides, two negatives make a positive in math. Perhaps, the same can be said for the socially inept. | |

| Leighton smiled now and sat down next to Vanessa. "Pleasure to meet you," Leigh spoke smoothly. Drea jumped down from her shoulder and into her lap. Leigh didn't know if this girl was actually interesting in talking to Leighton or if Vanessa was just frightened that a Slytherin had approached her. Leighton didn't know how Vanessa felt about the infamous Sytherins. Hopefully, Vanessa knew that by Leigh talking to her that Leighton wasn't like the other Slytherins (with the exception of Lyss who was a lot like Leighton). "So, you're in Gryffindor?" Leigh questioned, her American accent very obvious. | |
