Astrid pushed the strands of hair out of her face to behind her ears. She wasn't the girl for ribbons, or hairbands, and so ears were pretty handy in doing this. This particular watch she had found at a yard sale, the top form of glass broken to within an inch of it's watch life.
The cogs were explicitly fascinating. German make. Astrid hadn't seen a German watch before. So much more intrinsic than the others. Or maybe this watch was one of a kind. She'd like that.
Biting down on her lip as she took the small battery away from the tight componants, she placed the cogs that had been digging into her palm onto the napkin on the grass. She was lucky today was a quiet calm Summer one.
