A treat between shops Empty
PostSubject: A treat between shops   A treat between shops EmptyFri Jan 07, 2011 8:01 pm

Anne's parents went down to the leaky cauldron to get something to eat, while Anne decided she rather eat ice cream. Suprisingly her parents had agreed to letting her do this, she didn't know why, but she wasn't stupid enough to argue. She waited in line, looking around to see who else was in the shop. She was pulled out of her musings when she was asked what she wanted,

"One scoop of chocolate, in a cup" She asked. The person behind the counter just stared at her looking like she couldn't beleive what the girl had said. Maybe they didn't have chocolate ice cream. She looked back at what was available, no, they definently sold chocolate.

"Is there a problem?" She finally asked, slightly annoyed. What was the problem here?

Finally she was answered. "We sell a variety of flavors, sundaes, and even an ice cream volcano...You want one scopp of chocolate ice cream?"

"In a cup" Anne continued

"In a cup...Are you sure thats what you want?"

"Yes, I want one scoop of chocolate ice cream, in a cup. Is that too hard for you to get, or would you like me to get something a little less complicated?" Anne said condescendingly, her patience having been pushed too far. This seemed to encourage actualy service, and soon after she had her ice cream. She turned to find a seat....and there were no empty tables. Anne sighed, she could either go out in the alley and wander a bit, or see if one of these people would let her sit with them. Her feet were already killing her, and she had more shopping to do later....Now, it is was a question of who to ask.

Silvana twirled her black hair and laughed as a girl went up to the counter and yelled at the worker for being incompetent basically. All she wanted was a simple scoop of chocolate in a cup and the worker tried to make it far more complicated than it had to be. It was hilarious to watch and Silver simply couldn't help but laugh, which made her blue eyes sparkle.

Then the girl turned around to find a place to sit. Of course there were no empty tables, but Silver was sitting by herself....

"Need a place to sit?"

Anne smiled at the girl and thanked her as she sat down across from the girl. She wasn't sure what to do now. She never was paticularily good at meeting new people. But she figured sitting here quietly would be rude, so she went with an introduction.

"Hello, my name is Anne McSommers. I will be starting Hogwarts in the new term, as a first year. I had no idea I was even a witch before I got my letter, my mom was one thought. My dad isn't a wizard, but when my dad said I was going to hogwarts, school for gifted youngsters, grandma made a funny noise on the phone so i think they now more than they are telling. I am going to stop rambling now, if you'd like I could go sit somewhere else"

Anne wanted the ground to open up and swallow her, maybe with magic it would actually be possible. She waited nervously for the other girls response, this is why she didn't talk to people.

Silver smiled at Anne who was rambling in front of her. She was obviously nervous and unsure of what to say.

"Well, my name is Silvana Harper, but most people call me Silver. Unlike you I have always known that I'm a witch. I was raised at an orphange with a bunch of other kids who were witches and wizards. I don't know who my parents are so I'm not sure on Bloodtype. I'm also starting at Hogwarts this year and you don't have to leave. You seem pretty cool."

Silver gave a reassuring smile this time and waited for the girl's response.

Anne inwardly sighed in relief. Apparently this girl didn't think she was an absolute moron.

"Thanks, " Anne said, liking this girl more by the minute, and more importantly she may have information, "They have special orphanages for witches and wizards? Do they teach you magic or hitory there? Do you go to, whats the word again, muggle school for elementary? What are schools like here?

I only ask because I am from Canada, just moved here a few months ago. It was stressful enought trying to figure out how the school systems compared when I was just going from canadian to british, and if I would be behind. But know i am not only in a different country, but entering like a whole new world. Its a bit daunting to say the least, did you always know you would be going to hogwarts?"

Anne asked a bit more than she meant to, but going to school without any information on what she was getting into when she had the oppurtunity to find out would be unwise. Hopefully silver would answer some of her questions at least.

"I'm not sure if there are more orphanages like mine. I grew up around magic and picked it up and I learned a little history, but not much. The witch that ran the place taught us at home so we never went to school. I don't know how the Muggle schools work, but Hogwarts is first through seventh year.

"So you're from Canada? That's pretty cool. I grew up here and I always knew I would go to Hogwarts. Did you go to a Muggle school before now? What was it like? I've never really associated with Muggles all that much."

Silver was glad to help Anne out. She figured it must be hard moving to a new place, but she had no actual experience with that. She had never been adopted or gone to a foster home. For some reason no one wanted her.

Anne was suprised to here that the orphanage was home schooled. She said as much to Silver. "You were home schooled? I wonder if that is more a wizard thing, or a Brittain thing. There isnt't much in the way of home schooling, its usually for people who can't go to school or who are creepy cults and things. But I guess sending your kids to school, who know magic is real doesn't go over well.

Well my school, its hard to describe. I guess we have more teachers, one main one, and a few for other subjects that the teacher can't teach. Its different in high school, there is one teacher per subject. You make friends within your grades, usually just the girls if you are a girl.

Most kids thought I was a bit odd. Partially because I am a bit off, and partially because of all the odd things that went on around me. Now I know that is because of the magic, but as a result I don't get along so well with others. I didn't really get a chance to do most socializing. I am thinking with this whole house thing must help with that, having to live with the people that will have to get to know me.

What about you? Do you have any friends going to hogwarts with you, any from the orphanage?"

"Muggle school sounds fun. All of the kids from the orphange are either too young to attend Hogwarts or they already go there and I don't know them very well. I was always more of the quite type anyways so I'm not very close with the other kids. At school, hopefully, I will make friends my own age. That would be nice seeing as all my friends now are still entertained with Peek-A-Boo and Candyland."

Silver laughed and finished the rest of her strawberry ice cream. "So what subject are you most looking forward to at Hogwarts? Personally I want to learn Transfiguration. It seems really fun to be able to change one thing into another. Charms seems fun too."

"I would like to learn charms, as well as defense against the dark arts as it seems prudent t be able to defend myself. I am thinking od ancient runes, I have has a fascination with the idea for runes for a while now. I mean they are interesting even for muggles, but well, muggle think of it like a dead language so they don't really teach classes or anything in it.

What I am really interested in is potions. It seems the most like chemistry, or cooking both of which I have always been quite good at. The idea of being able to make medecines, and salves even as children seems extremely useful.

I do think transfiguration seems interesting too, I would like to take it. I am still saving money up for books thought. Right now I am thinking of taking potions, ancient runes, dada, and charms. Hopefully Astronomy, and Transfiguration if I can raise the funds. Books sure are expensive, luckily the beginner books are good for three years or I would only be taking the one class. What else are you thinking on taking, have you heard anything about the classes here?" Anne asked eager for a bit more information. It looked like Silver would be leaving soon, and she was hoping to get a little more info.

"I'm really just interested in everything. All magic is rather fascinating really. I haven't heard anything about the classes, but I'm sure they will be amazing! Magic is the only school subject I think I can ever exceed in." Silver laughed and sat back in her chair. Her jet black hair got caught on her face, but she quicly moved it to look at the girl across from her.

Anne pretended to look a bit dissapointed at the news, but secretly was quite glad at the news that someone raised in the magical world here has not more information than she did. Maybe she wouldn't be as out of place as she thought. She decided to stop monopolizing this girls time, and get back to her shopping.

Anne ate the last bite of her ice cream, and then said her goodbyes to Silver. "Thank you for letting me sit here, I really appreciate it and all the information you have given me. I hope to see you at hogwarts"
