A Visit to the Candy Shop Empty
PostSubject: A Visit to the Candy Shop   A Visit to the Candy Shop EmptyWed Feb 23, 2011 6:39 am

Aurora had heard Honeydukes was the best candy shop around and she wanted to check it out. She knew as well as anyone, rumors weren't always true. Besides, a trip to Hogsmeade would give her a chance to spot all the gross, romantic Hogwarts couples scurrying about and it would give her more gossip material for her fellow Slytherins. This was all in good fun, of course. Aurora wasn't usually completely malicious but of course she knew how to be really vicious when she wanted to be.

After making her way past a few obvious Hufflepuff First Years, Aurora opened the door to Honeydukes and walked in. Immediately, she spotted a whole bunch of different candies. Wow, this certainly was going to be her favorite place to visit during the school year and afterwards. Her parents always took her to a candy store near their home which was pretty extravagant but this place was so much better.

She walked around gathering the candy she desired. Droobles, Fairy Floss, Treacle Fudge, Chocolate Fudge, and Blood Pops. They all were so delicious and she couldn't wait to finally eat them after she purchased them. With a basket full of candy in her hand, she went to the counter and bought everything she had.

The salesman pointed to a lounge and told her she could go there and relax while eating her candy. She thanked him and walked over to the lounge he recommended within the shop. Aurora plopped down on a seat and looked through her bag full of purchased items. Right away, she tore open a package of chocolate frogs. Immediately, the frog jumped out and hopped away. "Little bugger." She mumbled and watched the frog hop away.

Hester was thrilled that as a third year she could now visit Hogsmeade. As a muggle born, she had only ever been to two magical places: Diagon Alley and Hogwarts.

She stood in the street, glancing around her, wondering where to start. She spotted the brightly coloured sweet shop and decided that that was a good a place as any.

She pushed open the door, the bell tinkling as she entered.

The place was full of sweets. Sweets she had never even heard about. There were a few she recognised that were sold on the Hogwarts Express, but there were plenty more that she had never come across in her life. She gathered up some chocolate frogs, some Bertie Botts Beans and some ice mice. She payed for them at the counter and then made her way into the lounge that the shop assistant directed her to.

There was another girl in there already.

Hester sat down near the girl, but not right next to her. After a moment of silence, she said "Hi, I'm Hester."

Instead of trying to chase the Chocolate Frog, Aurora decided to just open a new package. She took a mental note to be more careful this time and grasp the frog completely so its chances of getting away were minimal. Slowly, she opened the package and grasped the frog as quickly as she could. Before it could get away, she shoved it in her mouth.

Maybe it looked really weird to whoever was nearby to see a girl shoving Chocolate Frogs in her mouth but she really, really wanted the chocolate frog. It was so delicious and the chocolate was perfect. She now knew why they were so hard to eat. It was worth the fight with the frogs though.

Not too long after, she started to get lost in her thoughts. There really weren't many things for her to think about. First, she thought about that awful Gryffindor boy. What was his name? Larson? Liam? Landon? Something like that. Either way, he gave Gryffindor a bad name even though they did that for themselves.

Her second thought was about the other Slytherins she met. One was Jude, and one was Alli. They were cool. She really liked Alli. They were both gossipers which definitely helped out. Moments later, she was ripped out of her thoughts when a girl sat down in her vicinity and introduced herself. Usually Aurora wasn't so kind but thanks to the chocolate frog she was in a good mood. "Hi." She replied. "I'm Aurora." A pretty subtle way to start a meeting.

"You like chocolate frogs, then?" Hester asked with a smile. She liked them too, but she didn't want to deal with the same struggle that the girl had had, with them jumping away, so she decided to save hers for later. Instead she started with an ice mouse.

After the first bite, she felt her teeth begin to chatter violently. The second bite brought out a squeak. Hester laughed. She hadn't expected them to do that, but she didn't say anything so that her blood status wasn't obvious.

Wasn't it obvious Aurora liked chocolate frogs? Why would someone ask a question like that? To Aurora, it was really stupid that anyone would bother to ask her if she liked chocolate frogs. "Well yeah...I'm sure it didn't take much to figure that out." The mean Slytherin side was already coming through. Aurora wondered if this girl was weak and if she'd get offended by it.

Aurora watched the girl eat an ice mouse. The sound was really strange and it caused Aurora to raise an eyebrow, "That was definitely...different." Aurora said a little confused and not really sure what to say after something like that.

"Well," Hester began. "It was just a conversation starter, but we can begin with something else if you like."

She kept her voice pleasant; it had helped in times like this. She knew that she had found it difficult to get on with girls in the past, and despite the fact that she had made several girl friends at Hogwarts she was constantly afraid that her confidence would fail and she would end up with no one. She had made friends with Serenity, though, and she hoped that of she didn't make friends with this girl, then at least they wouldn't become enemies.

"I'm Hester, what's your name?" she said.
