Hester wandered along a path in the park. She was supposed to be going back to the Leakey Cauldron to find her mum, but she didn't want to just yet. She scuffed her feet along the gravel path, causing her trainers to begin to colour change from white to grey. Dad wouldn't be happy. These had been new, a present for going away.
Jeanie had been sooooo jealous.
Hester hoped that her sisters would get to come to Hogwarts when they were older. It seemed a little unfair if they didn't, but she was the only person with any magic so far.
She sat down on a grassy verge. The late September sun was warm, but there was a chilly breeze blowing around and Hester pulled her jacket tighter around her. The zip was broken, but she didn't want a new one. She liked this one.
She plucked a flower from the bed absent mindedly, and got the shock of her life when it hissed at her! A row of sharp, demon like teeth grinned at her before disappearing once more into the petals. Hester smiled. She would like being magical.
