| Thomas grinned to himself as he let his feet lead up up and around the school, eventually leading him to one of the many towers, the Clock Tower he believed it was. He liked the height of here, it gave an amazing view of the surrounding area as well. He took a deep breath, stepping towards the balcony. Looking out, he watched as a small owl flitted about, before landing on the ledge. "Hello there!" He said to it cheerfully, smiling as it hooted in reply, before soaring off. Lucky little things are owls, I wonder how many places each one sees. He thought idly, before sighing, it was a really nice day really, which made him lad he'd been kind of outside for at least some of it. Then again, he could always go down to the Lake later, seeing the vibrant colours ripple on the water as the sun sets might just provide a good muse. | |

| It seemed to Astrid that the only place she'd ever frequent minus her classrooms for learning, the hall for eating and her room for sleeping, the only other place she'd ever often be would be the Clock Tower. It made sense, and more importantly, it felt right.
The sun was taking it's sweet time lowering over the horizon, and as Astrid turned her back with finality to face the clock tower and the low sweeping pendulum, entranced by it's movements, she thought about home, and what it meant to her.
And out of the corner of her eye she saw a figure. |

| Thomas kept looking out the balcony, watching as the sun continued its slow descent behind the horizon, it was nice. Just to watch simple things things like a sun setting from this height and distance, and staring at the new perspectives on the ground below. A moment later, he saw a flash of movement out of the corner of his eye, and turned around to see what it was. He noticed a girl, possibly around his own age? He thought so at least, nearby. "Hello." He said politely. "Who're you? If you don't mind me asking that is?" He asked. I'm Thomas Celare, First Year Slytherin by the way." He added. Maybe if he intoduced himself first, the girl wouldn't feel hesitant or uncomfortable or anything, if she was even likely to feel like that in the first place, which he doubted. This girl seemed to be a fairly independent character, though he could be wrong, he was never the best judge of peoples character. | |

| Thomas Celare. The name sounded wholly ordinary, and she was sure she'd never come across him or his family at the get-togethers her mother made. She wasn't a total mardy bum and sulked in a corner. She wore a dress -plain, mind- and smiled and circulated, although most of the time it was to the more muggle-orientated males with cheerful dispositions. At the end of the night her mother was always scratching her neck wondering how they'd ever gotten an invite in the first place but there you were.
She inclined her head curtly at his name, not one bit surprised at the declaration of his house. The thing she didn't like about giving her name before anything else about yourself was that people could tell you a lot about their name. Who they were, where they stood, that sort of thing. But her mother had pushed her and pushed her to be kind and at least respectful of social ettiquette, so she bowed her head (and tried to raise it back to normal without looking like an idiot: she had forgotten that she didn't like Mother's idea of having to bow at every male there was.) and said her name. "Astrid. Gryffindor. First year too."
Her voice, plain dull and droll as always let her down. She wrung her hands in the folds of her cloak and took her analytical but kindly stare away from the boy who called himself Thomas. Astrid wondered if it was time that she get herself a notebook to write down her ideas. That pendulum did pose some very interesting theories.
Astrid's next thought was if the boy liked any of this sort of thing, but she didn't say. Most people weren't as open as she was told to expect them too. It was stupid. Astrid kept herself to herself and her cards eyed by her eyes only. Why expect anyone else to do the opposite? |

| Hester stumbled into the clock tower, not completely sure where she was. She thought she had been on her way to an astronomy lesson, but she certainly wasn't there now. Inwardly she cursed herself. How could she have got lost? She had been to the astronomy lesson before. Really, it was stupid to get lost going somewhere you had been before.
She wasn't exactly looking where she was going, instead, staring a the ground, wondering if she retraced her steps whether she would end up back where she started, or somewhere completely different.
It wasn't until she was almost on top of them that she noticed the boy and the girl. The girl from her dorm, who she hadn't yet spoken to.
"I'm sorry," she said, stumbling backwards slightly, trying to get out of the way. She wasn't sure what else to say, so she waited for the others to speak. | |
